Spotty shoulders and back :(

Im an 18 year old guy and recently my all over my back and shoulders spots have appeared.

I get a few on my face every now and then like all teenagers but ive never had acne at all, how do i get rid of it? Ive just moved to a new city and am finding it hard to register with a doctor so for the minute I wanna see if anyone can reccommend any products which have helped them in the past.

i'm not sure but i've found some cropping up on my back too..how annoying.

wash properly or change your sheets or something. it could be an allergy or use one of those anti-acne soaps or washes/cleansers or something.

Any 10% Benzoyl Peroxide cream for which you need a prescription. The trouble is acne on your back is a lot more difficult to get rid of. If it's quite bad, antibiotics are the only way.

There are many very expensive treatments too like laser surgery.

Benzoyl Peroxide is pretty effective if you use it enough. Its even better combined with antibiotics but you need to be consistent with its use. The down side is its bloody annoying to put on and bleaches cloth (sheets, shirts etc). Still, its definatly the most effective method, things like clearsil do almost nothing, especialy if its bad.

I have had it for 6 years and i finally registered with my doctor at uni and he refered me to a dermatologist. I am now taking roacutane which gets rid of it. REGISTER WITH A DOCTOR AND DO THE SAME

Anti-biotics - Oxytetracycline Tablets work very well.

You can use topical lotion but it's rather crap.

Clearasil won't do anything.

If you go on anti-biotics and nothing seems to be improving then you may need to go to a dermatologist(sp?) and get Roacutane(sp?) but that's only if it's very bad.

I get it on my back as well, sun clears it up a treat for me, though I guess its not the healthiest way to get rid of it:smile:

Unless it's actual acne which needs medication to cure, spots on the back are often to do with not changing sheets often enough, so perhaps give that a try?

I have a load of random brown spots and can't get rid of them, youv'e probably got acne or an allergy is there no walk in centre you can go to see a nurse or something?

my boyfriend had this problem.. he had a massive outbreak when he was 18.. by the time he hit 19, his back had pretty much cleared up. all he did was bathe regularly.

Im so lazy when it comes to changing my sheets! it just seems like so much effort, even though it only takes 5 mins!
Try a loofah, back brush or an exfoliant, this should help to remove any dead skin cells.
Quinoderm cream is good, but can be quite harsh, so dont use to much. i like the neutrogena rapid clear treatment as well. its not as harsh as quinoderm cream.
Try the hri clear complexion tablets, i find them really good.
Also, try and eat lots of fruit and veg, and drink lots of water. if you drink a lot of coffee, try and cut down, i dont think its that good for your complexion. but im not sure, because a foundations just come out with caffine in it.
Also, try and get 8 hours sleep a night, when i dont get much sleep, my skin tends to come up in spots.
My friend said sunbeds were really good for hers, but dont overdo it, just a couple of mins at a time.

i have had acne in the past.i have tried EVERYTHING. i have been under consultant dermatologist care (my acne isnt bad but it leaves pigments in my skin)

1) it is nothing to do with what you eat
2)washing yourself more frequently/with a different soap will not make a difference as acne comes from BELOW the skin
3) stuff like clearasil and netrogena is a waste of money and wont work (my consultant said this)- no better than a normal antibacerial soap which prob wont help
4)

what DOES work is the following in order of extremeness

1) benzoyl peroxide creams 10% (any stronger is no more effective than 10%)
you DONT need to go to the doc, just go to a chemist or Boots and get "oxy 10 benzoyl peroxide cream" i used 5% and it was just as good. will kill the spots in about 3-7 days. HOWEVER although it works real good, i saw my doc cos it was expensive and awkward to apply to the whole back 2wice a day

2) oral antibiotics/ topical prescription medication this is the real deal. in 3 months you will not have any spots. HOWEVER they may make you feel sick, and you take them weirdly with/without food/,milk/iron depending on which one. you might have to try a few. They will prob put u on tetracyclines (cheapest ones, quite effective but annoying to take as interact with food) then minocin/minocycline (most bacteria arent resistant BUT it may damage your skin with puigments over 6 moinths) and possibly a cream like erythomycin or skinoren(azaliac acid). the skinoren is great if you have scarring or marks left from acne. i use this even now.

3)Roaccutane - extreme treatment for really bad acne, but will cure it permenantly

im now on Dianette (pill for WOMEN) and skinoren, tho in the past i was on Oxy 10, then tried oxytetracycline(burned my skin in sunlight), minocin (amazing stuff but after 6 months amy pigment your skin/teeth), erythromycin (made me vomit / have the runs nonstop for 3 days then i couldnt take anymore) all at the same time as skinoren (burns at first but fades marks real good).

I usually get this when I get too hot in bed. Temperature wise, kids.
