The Student Room Group

getting worried about the number of people getting worried

am i the only person in this forum who's a little unsettled at the amount of people who have low self-confidence and who find problems everywhere in their lives. people around the world are starving and most topics on here are simply boring/pointless eg: should i date someone with a higher IQ than me? "im sorry, WHAT!!" .

i mean the forum is good for like sharing and such things but maybe people are taaking things too far! any thoughts? i say, just get on with your life!

it is true that people around the world have far more worse problems than any of the people on here, but sometimes people just need an outlet, so isn't it better to talk about any problems they are having than keep them bottled up side and make wrong decisions?

though i do agree about some of the threads.. they are a little rediculous..

I think when someone has a problem, its difficult for them to think about bigger world problems. Maybe it's because their problems they can get help with but that can't do a whole lot for major disasters.

No matter how big or small a problem is it can really hurt some people. Sometimes its not that people 'find' problems in their lives, they may have genuine problems that might seem silly to other people, but not to them. It's fair enough saying 'get on with your life' but some people need a bit of advice on direction, that's all

Not when your typing 'wtf' on threads you don't consider to be normal.
What scares me most is a lot of the thread starters have about 37 A levels at grade A and above yet don't have the common sense to work it out for themselves.

I agree

It does sound selfish when everyone is moaning but don't forgot that about half the problems people mention on here are probably not mentioned in the outside world.

i understand that people have problems. all that i am suggesting is that some people seem to feed off those problems. i mean, i have problems of my own which in my eyes are worse than many yet less bad than many others. but i just deal with it. One way i do this is by looking at other problems going on around the world. i guess it takes my mind off personal problems when i get involved in positive things... perhaps others ought to try this out instead of just focusing on their own problems. i mean, when you see the extent of problems for others both abroad and here, then you realise just how insignificant you're own are.
This is just one forum on a huge board. I wouldn't worry about it. There is only so much we can do to help starving ethiopians.

People have worries, sad but true. Until they can sort their lives out its a bit of a tall order to worry about someone elses.

Blame society.

I see what you mean, I think of all the people worse off than me and it makes my problems seem silly. If you do have worries though, don't feel bad for posting it on TSR, it could help you see a solution that you may never have come across.

Some people don't compare their problems because to them, it feels like things will never get better. They probably can't even think about anything apart from their problem. Doesn't make them bad people.

they don't comare their problems because they don't even notice other people's problems because they're so into their own.

hey some people can deal with it, some can't. I guess those that can't need other people to know about it.

oh how much fun it is to act like a 10 year old.
If we all went around thinking how worse off other people are any time we had a problem we would not be able to lead a normal life.

What seems trivial to one person might well be really affecting another. Personally I don't like these moany groany threads but hey there you go.

It's a Health&Relationship section...you'd expect people to find a lot of people worrying about tiny details of their relationships rather than expressing worry about world hunger.
That's not to say people here don't care or are selfish, it's just this is the appropriate outlet for their particular problem. . I've posted on H&R about various problems, but those problems don't take over my life or anything, it just seems like that when seen out of context.
Oh, and if no one shared their problems, would H&R even exist at all?

Sure theres plenty of people worse off, but a problem is still a problem no matter how big or small it may seem.
Now i would also get pissed off if someone came along with a very very immature problem, the majority of problems seem to be all very similar thoe.
Basically guy problems, so sometimes people should look in older threads.
This is called The Student Room, and students (or at least teenagers in general) are known for being self-centered and having a billion "problems", it's our job.

It's silly to say that we can't worry about our problems because other people (such as starving Africans) are worse off; we compare ourselves to those around us and those that society push at us, and also:

law:portal
If we all went around thinking how worse off other people are any time we had a problem we would not be able to lead a normal life.

If it bothers you that much you could always just read another forum.
people take other peopl's comments very seriously:confused:
