The pill and hunger pangs-PLEASE help

I'm on Microgynon 30 at the moment and although it's doing its job and making my periods easier to handle I'm just so damn hungry all the time. I'm at college and I have lessons which start at 8.45am and lunch at 12.30. I'm fine for a couple of hours but after that time I get serious hunger pangs. Today it was so bad that I actually felt physically sick and could barely concentrate on anything, I nearly thought I was going to be sick because I just felt so hungry.

I've also gone from being about 9st to nearly 10st in the space of 2 months and I hate it. I know that the pill increases hunger and that you should resist the urge, but I can't because if I don't eat something I feel sick. I'm starting to get really upset about this because I hate the way my body's looking at the moment and the weight's just piling on.

So my question is this: is it worth changing pill, or does every version of the pill make you feel hungry? I'm just about ready to ditch Microgynon 30 altogether because although it helps me medically I hate feeling fat and ugly. :frown:

it doesn't reduce hunger,it says if you may put on some weight but only if you can't control your diet in the first place. i've been on it over a year and i haven't put on any weight, and i'm not the most active of people either. maybe you've been active lately or exercising a lot or not eating enough at meals.
Hey
Ive been on two types of Pill and both times i put on at least half a stone! When i came off them, i lost weight. It annoys me so much, here i am trying to prevent any unwanted arrivals and all it does is make me gain weight. My advice is to go back to the doctors and say you arent getting on with the Pill and is there a different on you can try? Maybe one day they'l invent something with less effects on our figures! :-(

Eat breakfast!! Have a good breakfast, and if you really want to snack on something have some fruit. Then eat a good lunch. If you're at college i presume you're fairly active anyway..

I do have some friends who put on weight on that pill, but theres nothing to prove it, so i dont know whether they would have, had they not been on the pill. You could talk to your doctor about it and see what he/she says?

Here's an idea; go on Yasmin. It contains a diuretic, which will make you run to the tiolet frequently, but it will also cause you to lose weight. I was on it for 9 months and dropped a dress size (something I was not pleased about, incidentally, as I'm boarderline underwieght naturally and should certainly never have been presribed a Pill that would make me even thinner).

diuretics make you pee not lose weight. i think you're thinking about laxatives. and pills can't contain laxatives and that is a very bad idea.

i dontcare what peole say about there being no proof that the pill makes you lose weight. I came off it twice to have some differnt antibiotics and the first time i lost 4 pounds! The second time i lost 2 pounds. Neither time did i do any more exercise or eat less etc.

Maybe you should see your doctor about a differnt form of the pill, e.g. the injection or the implant... they can also make your periods easier, and they may not be quite so bad for your weight

Thank you so much for your help everyone. I've actually decided to come off the pill because I really can't cope with the weight gain. I'm now researching alternative methods of easing my periods. I have strong tablets prescribed to me for the pain anyway and I'm going to see how it goes in terms of heavy flow for the next few months.
