first thought, is 'wow he's really brave". because i really do think it takes an amazing strength of character. i would worry though, being away a lot and then that whole girl at every base thing...!
I think Sayeed from Lost
But my boyfriend said he wanted to go in the army, but I told him I don't want him to because I don't want to lose him
Soldiers are a mixed blessing.

Going into the army has turned some great guys I know into seemingly senseless jokers, whose entire life revolves around "blowing sh*t up" and laughing when people get shot on TV.
But it has also made some wasters I know into well rounded and focused people.

You are going for officer, right? You should be fine, with all your high fulluting etiquette and sword drill. Some girls might think you are a bit elitist and arrogant, but I'd have you (I like soldiers  very sexy)

Basically i would like to know for my own personal reasons, what girls think when they find out a guy they like or might like is a soldier?
thank you for your time

I'll have you Chris, whatever you wanna do with your life :p:

As long as you retain the necessary equipment.

My dad's in the army and met my mum cos he was transported to Germany and their marriage lasted for 13 years (split after having moved to Belgium with my german mum and us kids :p: ).
He was never at home much and sometimes even away for a month or two to help people who lost their house to move into tents and protect schools etc. But then the Belgian army isn't really a fight-army it's blue helmets helping people in wars.

So yeah, I wouldn't like it. Also he's suffering from his back now a lot lately cos of too much sports (but that's not only army, also sports + he teaches sport at the army).

now now damdam, what have i told you, i dont feel that way about you  , so the general concensus is yeah there alright but not bf material, hmm, well too late now, i'm going for it
I think people often don't realise what it is to be an officer... the training is hard, cold, miserable, the food isn't great, and there's a lot more to it than mindless running about and shooting things.

I don't just say that because I'm in a similar situation to flankrunner  - only, one step short of Sandhurst. ULOTC.

(Sorry, this has nothing to do with the OP's topic )

no no any advice is welcome, i'm well aware of the training, my entire family has been military and i'm currently in the territorial army, and at college, i dont plan on going to uni, as i expect to serve the full 22 years if i'm accepted into RMA sandhurst

aww. i think you'll be more than fine. any girl you meet in the future will know exactly what your plans are, she'll fall in love with you knowing that you'll be in service for 22 years so she'll know exactly what to expect. and girls LOVE armed forces men!
i think-ohh sexy-but then it hits me that omg that guys is not gonna be around a lot :frown:

hmm, not a lot really. I mean, i wouldnt want to settle with someone who was more likely to get shot at and I would have to move for their career. Simple, selfish, but honest. Sorry babe, I am sure you're hot and great at discipline....
