penis smell

i am in a long term relationship. me and my girlfriend have been sexually active for about 10 out of the 11 months we have been 2gether.
unfortunatly, even in sex education at school, i was never tought about how to properly wash my penis. i have heard various rumours that soap makes the smell worse or whatever. the bad thing is, my girlfriend has to put up with it. she is a lovely girl and has never appeared displeased by it, i just don't want her to suffer anymore.
any advice please?

As far as I know, you're probably OK if you just retract the foreskin and rinse when you're in the shower - no soap and stuff needed.
Of course, I'm female, so have no personal experience of the matter...

Just wash it, like any other part of the body. Soap doesn't make it smell worse. If you're worried, use shower gel. Have a shower every/most mornings and make sure you wash it with soap/shower gel/whatever else you use, and it'll be fine.

washing every morning isnt enough. try some Dettol [or anything else that kills bacteria] wipes. they also help with smelly armpits etc.

Except then you taste of dettol. Would you want to drink the stuff? Tasting of soap/dettol/anything else that fights bacteria isn't good. Being clean is.

look, just make sure when you have a shower that you pull the foreskin back, wash it with soap or whatever - RINSE WELL - then pull the foreskin back. Honestly - for a country where most blokes seem to be uncircumcised no-one seems to know about this *ergh, yuck*
