For the adaptation question I only wrote about 4 adaptations, but said WHY they are good, would that get me six marks?

lol, I got most of it right apart from the 0.6% question because I didnt times it by 100 (I put 0.006) <-Hope they give mark for workings :frown:. Also the first question with the flow chart was a bit confusing, I put for process X Global warming LOL (I know its a dumb answer) although for Y I did put death and decay.

The Carbon Cycle one? One of them is either combustion/burning and the other was Decay. Also, (for other people) It isn't respiration because the Algae already has an Arrow going back to the Atmosphere for respiration.

Would you get the mark for writing decomposition instead of decay?

You get more marks on how you wrote your answer so if you used punctuation, correct grammar and specialist vocabulary.

But if it says outline, does it need an explanation?
Writing 4 adaptations is good enough I think.
Yes rohan you will.

Well they mean the same thing so i would say so, but the Biology mark schemes are VERY STRICT with the answers.
The mark scheme is meant to be a guideline for the examiners

i said yes to the pharmacist :frown: but i don't know if was right or wrong. Also, what did everyone put for the first carbon cycle questions? I said respiration and combustion :s
I also said respiration (x) and combustion(y).

Would you still get the marks for the six marker for arranging information correctly if you did it in bullet points?

Arrgh! The first graph really confused me because I didn't read it properly. The Y Axis was confusing if you didn't read it properly (like me). The question on the percentage was the killer. I wrote 25%, but later found out it was 75? Oh well, it was only one mark
I thought that exam was fairly hard, the question about the GM zebra fish was kinda hard... And there was hardly anything on human biology!

For January 2012 the boundary was 48/60 which in my opinion is quite high compared to other years so it must be easy. Although, last years 45mark paper was also quite easy therefore grade boundaries were also high. With this question paper I got most of it although there are some sneaky ones that I could have missed. Let's just pray the grade boundaries will be low, otherwise resit :P

Anyway, on the front cover I read that I couldn't write out the space provided, but when I did something completely wrong and crossed it out there was no space left. So I called for the invigilator which was from AQA told me that I could write outside of the lines. Would this be accepted? Otherwise I might have to search up and chase that guy.

Does anyone know what the answer was to the plant question which said something like where in the plant does this reaction happen

Also what was the answer to how does the plant bend towards light

And for the two control variables I wrote amount of sunlight + time of day would that be wrong?
Original post by ali_d123
For the zebra fish one, I had no clue about that so i followed the process of creating insulin; lookign into the chromosone and cutting the required DNA from the jellyfish then putting it into a bacterium cell to reproduce

I basically put that the gene with desired characteristic should be cut out from the chromosome the jellyfish using an enzyme and placed in the chromosome in the zebra fish.
Is that right ?? Would I get three marks ??

And what did you guys put for the reasons why scientists are worried about genetically modified zebra fish ?

I put the plants should be placed in the same place where they all receive an equal amount of sunlight and the same type of material with the same material should be used.
I kind of messed that up !!

Your answers look good though. Your probably get the marks, don't worry, it was only 2 marks I think ?

I put because the long term effects are not known, expensive, cruel and there could be defects  xxx

Thant exam ok not easy but challenging.....Some questions were badly worded.... I thought it was 25% not 75% and how on earth can u measure someones pain? What did you guys put for the question about why the energy levels transferred from the sun to the green plant was so slow? I said because plants need little energy for photosynthesis..do u think tht right?

And for the carbon cycle thing...i said it was respiration and combustion...is tht right? I think the grade boundaries will b lower than the january 2012 which was 48/60 for A*...about 45/60 for this paper...but I dnt know.... Thanks
