why is ucas letting me 'substitute choice'

got rejected from LSE but the substitute choice button is RED and i can add another uni and course if i want to.. is this something to do with ucas extra?

Did you get rejected by all 6 choices? or did you not use all six possible choices? Because they're the only reasons why you'd be allowed to apply to more universities.

yeah i only used up 5 choices but one of my friends who used up all 6 choices got the same substitute thing from lse... she didnt get rejected from all 6 and neither did i..

I can do this as well. Did get an offer though. Is also possible for York and Oxford. I'm tempted to change something. Do you think that it's allowed or will UCAS cancel my whole application if I try to?

Well, couldn't resist the temptation and tried to substitute my rejections. Entered other course codes and clicked on 'next', but I was only directed to a '500 Internal Server Error' page. So you can't change your choices. Would have been a dream for me...

Now that this doesn't work: I can also click on the 'cancel choice' button. Do you think that I'll be able to cancel my application to Warwick?

Seems like a Track flaw then because I have the "substitute choice" option for Oxford and York also.

I have that for Birmingham and Southampton too for French and Music - I got 5 offers so I don't know what's going on.

Is the course discontinued or something...?

Track *thinks* that the course is discontinued, but when you try to change something you're directed to a server error page. Let's see how long UCAS takes this time to fix it.

i get those same two options for all of my unis, be they rejections offers or even pending... wierd. Im not going to fiddle with anything though..

I've just checked out this observation you guys made, and when I clicked on the the 'substitue choice', it actually allows me to change the school and the choices! what should i do? is this valid??

Even for your offers? I can?? only withdraw my Warwick application, but I can't change anything for the choices I got offers from.

Just checked it again and I can't change anything in my Durham rejection. Really weird. Massive messing when they changed track the last time on Thursday or what? :confused:

Try to click at 'next'. It won't work. I tried yesterday and I only got a server error message.

GUYS I JUST DISCOVERED SOMETHING. iF YOU HOVER YOUR MOUSE OVER THE TWO OPTIONS YOU WILL GET A LITTLE MESSAGE SAYING YOU CANT/OR CAN. sO NOT EVERYONE CAN DO IT.

The message comes up when you cant actually select the substitute button. on some of my choices its red and you change it but then an error comes up

It says somewhere on the website that you can only substitute a choice if your course has been discontinued

Yeah, but some people here (me included) can click on 'substitute choice' when they were rejected. You enter then a page where you can change uni, course, etc., but you can't confirm it.

Do you suppose it's just a mistake since Extra started?

I don't want my course to be discontinued as it's rare enough as it is!
