Weird allergies....

I was wondering if anyone else has the same allergy as me.... Its kinda weird.

I've got heat and light sensitive urticaria. If I've been out in the cold and then suddenly come into a nice warm room, I get pins and needles all down my back, chest, lower legs and arms. Sometimes I come out in hives which last about 5 mins then disappear. The same thing happens if I sit in a car with direct sunlight shining through the window.

My Doc said its really common, some people have the same effect if they jump into a hot shower. He gave me some crappy antihistamines, which don't do any good cos they're too slow acting.

Anybody else have any weird allergies like this?

Welcome to the urticaria soc!! There's a few of us on here, I get it in the shower if it suddenly gets hot - but mine is more chemical/food based. I take my anti histamines first thing in the morning, what are you on? Do you only take them once you come out in hives? Can't say I know too much about this type of urticaria sorry, but we're all here if you need to talk!

The Doc prescribed me loratadine but I've decided I don't want to take any medication as I don't like being dependant on pills. The allergic reaction only lasts a few mins and I've learnt to cope with the pins and needles. I once nearly passed out though one night when I woke up to go to the bathroom, it was that bad.

I'm allergic to orange juice (not oranges)- gives me a migraine, and codeine- knocks me out cold then paralyses me...SO fun...NOT...

Yes, I get that!! OMG i thought i was the only person seriously. Mine js developed randomly out of nowhere, when i went ice skating about 2 years ago. I randomly get this hive like rash when subjected to rapid temperature change (if im too hot or too cold) It's awful!! I went to the docs and they gave me anti histamines which actually work thank god, but i cant take them every day! I took them every day when i went skiing, but they make me tired and also u get really drunk if u touch alcohol! I use Benadryl cream if the rash comes up, its amazing, i reccommend it. But its weird, how sometimes i dont get it at all, and then it just appears one day!!!

i started taking these plant.. based.. pills for my period pains, but instead of helping with that, they caused me to come out in hives all over my body, and caused my forehead to swell up.. :frown:
