Alopecia

Recently my doctor told me that i have alopecia and he said its temporary. My bald patchs however are not really obvious, but when i touch my hair, i can obvioucly feel that my hair is thinner than the other, and on the back of my head, theres a tiny blad patch which no one seems to notice, and i seem to get it at the side of my hairline, on the left corner.
It is getting a little better than the last few months though, since i dued and bleached my hair, theres use to be clumps of hair falling out whener i wash mine. Now there is still quite a few, about 20 sumthing - 30 hair fall out.
This is scaring me, and i feel that i dont wanna touch my hair because im scared that everytime i touch it or brush it through my finger, some hair fall out. I'm scared that my hair will never grow back
:frown:
So does anyone here have or had alopecia? And if so, How long exactly does it take your hair to grow back fully and return to normal?

Alopecia can fall into two types - scarring and non-scarring.
scarring never grows back
non-scarring does grow back.

i'm not sure if i understand right, but are you saying it fell out after you dyed your hair?
if so this would probably be non-scarring. you had an allergic type reaction to the dye which caused a reaction in the skin of your scalp. after the allergic eczema has cleared then your hair will regrow. i'm betting you can already feel it a bit stubbly there. thats a very positive sign - scarring alopecia means the follicles themselves which regrow hair are dead and gone.

Give it time, wash your hair in a nice neutral shampoo etc and it should regrow quick enough.

I don't understand what you mean by scarring...how does hair falling out scar you?

A scar is a lingering sign of illness or injury.

So anything which indicates illness is referred to as scarring.

scarring just means that your hair won't grow back. You don't get scars but it's like a scar because it's permanent.

I think my hair loss is due to both hair dying and alopecia:frown: . My doctor looked at my scalp and he said theres no signs of eczema whatsoever my scalp looks completely healthy. But wierd thing is that the more i dye it, the itchier my scalp gets.
Not much people have relied here so i take that no one has alopecia here?
one of my best mates is as bald as you can get due to scarring alopecia

and.....

he loves it, he says its what makes him unique, and to be honest no one apart from us takes the mick and even then its in jest, so i wouldnt worry, especially if its temporary, but i'm no medic so i wouldnt know how long it takes to grow back

but good luck
