The Student Room Group

crap night... i am a crap flirt... meh. need advice.

so tonight... the dance. after the **** that was last weekend (best friend/ex bf debaucle...) I wanted something to happen with this guy in the year below that i like. um. yeah. so he stayed half the dance... spent half of that time talking to his twin brother and his ex gf (who is like model beautiful  )... and then left. I didnt have the balls to even ask him to dance. so now i think our whole flirtation was in my head... and if he actually liked me at all he would've asked me. I went over to his group of friends with my friend (who is in his year) and she was like "this is ladygrey!" and i was like "uh kristin, they know who i am"... then i left to go dance. after that, some kid was apparently like "who was that girl?? does she even go to our school? (:frown: )" and my boy apparently said "yeah, i know her, she's in my french class." I feel stupid. I thought MAYBE something MIGHT work out for me. but no. mehhhhh :frown: what to do?

Um, perhaps you should have just asked him to dance? It's not the 19th century anymore - women don't need to wait for guys to ask them to dance, unless it's something like ballroom dancing, and I'm assuming that you weren't at that kind of a dance. Anyhows, just ask him next time; you've got nothing much to lose.

Edit: How old are you/what year are you in anyway?

He wasn't being kind of anti-social - it seems like he was talking to his friends etc; just because he wasn't talking to you doesn't make him anti-social. Also, how well do you know this guy anyway? You said that you're in French together, but are you friends at all, or do you just know him from that class?

walking around talking to just his twin brother during a dance? thats a little antisocial. and we're friendly... we had a club together too (mock trial, but his team has already been eliminated)
Well, if you like this guy, then make more of an effort to get to know him outside of school - forget your inhibitions and say something like 'I really want to go and see such and such film, but noone wants to come with me; do you want to come?', and perhaps make it the case that it's the type of film that he may enjoy as well, and then take it from there. Anyhows, what kind of 'dance' was this anyway? Was this in a club, or a school disco or what?
just spread your legs for him and he'll notice ya

How one might qualify an appraisal such as that incorporated in the thread title seems quite speculative, given that you are evidently yet even to have attempted such.
heyy ladygrey!! flirting basically is complimenting someone-sometimes plaing hard-to-get actually works even though it may seem a bit horrible. Just be yourself and if the person doesnt like u then its his loss!!

yeah... i was just being so awkward. and he was like walking around with his twin brother (hello, unapproachable?) and then left early. uhhh
just talk to the guy, so what you didnt get to be with him at 1 dance, it doesnt make much difference, plus if your after a relationship, then the best bet is to talk to the dude and get to know him and let him get to know you, then you'll either hit it off or not, and believe me your no wuss its natural to be apprhensive, and as far as the playing hard to get, i wouldn't bother, most guys incl. me and my friends see playing hard to get as a pain and generally dont bother with such girls, cause if you like someone you dont mess them around:redface:

hope this helps, and remember have fun thats what life is for:wink:
ohh-i see what u mean-thats not good-u have two versions of him staring at u-not good-umm what would i do-better not tell u-its not a good idea-try and get him on his own-tell me how it goes

Well, you're certainly not in the least bit shallow.

i'm not shallow at all!! their facial features are the same, as is height and body type, which is why i said they look alike. and i only know the blond one, because i have class with him and mock trial.

lol... yeah... they're both very cute. but i only know the blond one (because we have french and had mock trial together) the brother also seems a bit of a slut, to be honest  i dunno, i don't much like school dances (neither does blond (i am calling them by hair colors just in case), as he left early...)
