Third date rule????do any of you use it/think it is true??

i heard of this before, and on Sex and The City and in the media that there is this rule that guys must have sex by the third date or else he can dump the girl. vice versa, the girl should put out otherwise the guy will think she isnt interested.

does this rule exist?is this actually true?

new york...britain is a different place plus it's a tv programme plus if everyone did that,we'd all be sluts or whatever male sluts are called! no you do not sleep on the third date unless you're emotionally prepared. you sleep with the guy when you're ready to sleep with him.i'd give it a month at least,get to know the person you want to shag a bit....

i dont know if its true - the Durex survey says the global average time for sleeping with a new partner is a month. if you date the guy/girl once a week then thats just after the third date.

i mean, wait until you are married/ready and all that. but i'd say by the third date you know how its gonna be

i dont really have enough experience to comment, as i have only had a third date with 3 guys. two of them cheated on me a week BEFORE the third date. the other cheated on me ALL THE TIME we were dating.
i know the cheating and my no sex beliefs were linked. but i dont know if the time factor made any difference.

AT2 ive given up dating guys who are not vigins/Catholics/ looking to marry so i am single and i never have this problem

never heard of it before, but up until two years ago, every single girl i'd slept with,we'd always end up in bed the third time we met. We'd originally meet, pull whatever, then meet up and have a date or something then the third time... we'd end up in bed.

some girls are worth more effort, some girls you dont have to put in any. it all depends.

Use a bit of common sense here. Please.
Would two fourteen years old who are dating real have sex on the third date? It would probably still be dates to the cinema, or a restaurant!

And even with grown ups, people may still wait longer than 3 dates.
I hate the way you've worded your question. It makes you come across really dumb. I mean, a rule?! Come on!

Rule my arse. My boyfriend waited 2 months before he even got anywhere near and to be honest if he'd dumped me for not sleeping with him by the 3rd date I'd have slapped him. Pathetic,
