You're absolutely right, but the G8 is made up of 'developed' economies who meet with the purpose of managing trade and providing the conditions required to allow developing contries to reach their full potential. And it is for that reason that China/India (considered to be 'developing' economies) are not members of the G8, and are often excluded from lists of nations ranked by GDP.
