I find the notion of a performa quite worrying. If it went numb, I feel I'd lose the hardness since there was no stimulation.

Sex doesn't provide as much outright physical stimulation as bashing one out, I reckon. It's harder, in fact, near impossible - for human bodies to move at the speed of a hand.
