Yip i follow the dot until it disappears  had it for years my eye sight is great

Yes I used to get it only when I looked down on my bed at home for some weird reason... Haven't noticed it lately but went to see my eye specialist about it and well all was 'fine'.
My sight is really bad as it is though (-8 ish and astigmatism + it will need to be lasered at some point  ) so don't trust me in telling you it will go away by itsself.

Have it looked after, your cornea(s) might be tearing in which case you can go blind. You usually see lightenings then or black 'flies'.
What? who said that? where am I?

It's nothing to worry about. Its just old dead blood cells that are in the liquid floating ofer yout retina! They swell and go transparent when this happens. I've had em all my life its fine!

oh i had that very very recent. it when the gel of your eye gets detached from the rest of the eye at some point., go the specialist because u need eye drops

That's not funny, there is actually a blind girl on TSR who uses speech technology to read this etc.

Well as long as you're entertained..

Sithius: go see your eye doctor if it's not gone by tomorrow.

Sithius: Just leave your old chap alone for a few days and it'll probably clear up.

Heh it's true, but only if your eyes are bad as it is. I don't think that what you described is anything to worry about.

EDIT: btw when I said corneas, I meant retina. The sort of 'wall' behind your eyes, not the glass' covering them.

Thanks for the replies, great to see it might be me going blind!

Going for the eye test in easter. I've been seeing these dots for the last couple of weeks now but they have more of a chance of appearing when I'm outside for some reason aswell as looking down.

Do you see these dots more often on bright days?

Do you see a halo of light around objects?

Shut up Wilhelm. Stop trying to spook him with rubbish. Its not a serious problem Sithius, sounds like the exact same thing I have, they move everytime you move your eyes and you cant quite focus on them. What scimitar_vc said is probably correct.

Thanks,

and i don't see a halo of a light. But if I look at really bright objects (A strong source of light (lightbulb when it's on) I get a lasting image of the brightness in its shape for a while, like a minute or so.. but most get that IIRC from past conversations.

Yeah thats just a different thing to do with bright lights, everyone gets that. Well, apart from Stevie Wonder no doubt.

Yea i get this too - like a few greyish/black dots that swim around when you look around. I think its pretty normal. I went to the opticians the other day and they didnt mention them, im shortsighted but i dont think its anything to do with that.
I think you should seriously think about cuttiing down on the amount of time you spend on your computer though cos it can be really bad for your eyes. At the moment your looking at around 35 - 40 hours a week, which is alot when you think about it. Think that guidelines say that you have to take a 15 minute break every 45 minutes when staring at a screen.

Didn't you tell a girl who has propably got bullimia to "get a grip"?

There propably isn't anything to worry about, I just asked to see if he could see a halo of light around objects because thats a serious problem.

Yes, floaters is the correct term for a 'spider-web', 'map' (whatever you want to call it). I've had mine for about four years now. I think I got mine by crashing my head against a player while playing football. First I saw 'stars', and then it calmed down and it was floaters. I wondered what they were and when I went to the optitions and they said they are very common. I notice them the most when I stare at a bright blue sky.
