People are putting forward the argument that having a sex change is just as important as other types of surgeries because, otherwise, it will lead to depression. But usually, those who undergo other types of cosmetic surgery such as nose jobs, breast enhancement, tummy tucks etc. do so because they have serious issues with the way they look. Sometimes, their appearance has bothered them so much that it has led to bullying, and consequently, depression and other types of mental illnesses. So, if sex change should be paid for by the NHS, so to avoid people getting depressed about their gender/sex, then why should the aforementioned types of surgical procedures be excluded?
