Phimosis

Hi, does anyone "suffer" from this? I do. It's not a problem to get an erection, but it's impossible for the foreskin to go back. Has anyone been "cured" from this? I'm only wondering not because I've had any problems but I'm figuring it would be almost impossible to put a condom on properly so I'd like to get it sorted.

The idea of a circumcision operation petrifies me. Because of that miniscule chance of something going wrong and me losing my penis :frown:

get it done, improved my life loads, yes you lose sense but that is not necesserily bad, atleast it makes you last longer. Also for hygien reasons simply get it done. go to a gp and get it checked out.

Btw condoms weren't actually a problem before i had my problem fixed
You need to c a doctor, and yes it's gonna hurt like hell... so keep yourself clean!

My boyfriend was circumcised aged 10 because of phimosis. Nothing went wrong there!

I don't think losing your penis is that common.

Still, if you can, it's best to avoid having it done: it decreases sensitivity, &c. There are stretching exercises and things you can do.

I hear the effects on overall feeling are debatable...

Get it done. It'll take a couple of months before they manage to get you through the NHS system anyway...

Hehe that's funny.
Stretching exercises work in 90% of cases. If not though, then circumcision is probably the only choice.

Don't good too far with it on your own. If you damage the foreskin you'll develop scar tissue which will just make the situation worse.

I think I'll head to the GP. I read there's a steroid cream treatment. The stretching excersize thing makes me cringe.

You don't need the foreskin to go back to be able to put a condom on properly. I have the same thing, a lot of males do, where the foreskin does not automatically retract. You can loosen it up by gently stretching it - it will be very tight at first but it does ease up if you do it every day over a period of months.

Condoms will be a lifesaver if you are struggling with tightness because actual penetrative sex could be a bit painful and difficult without - but the condom solves the problemo.

See the doctor if it troubles you - circumcision is fairly routine and loads of men have it. There are pros and cons which you need to evaluate and research

pros - it looks visually better i think, and cleaner, girls normally say they prefer a guy who's 'cut', more hygenic, no tightness or problems penetrating
cons - you lose nerve endings and the head loses sensitivity

guys that get 'cut' can find the paradox that they are more likely to receive oral sex, more likely to last longer at intercourse and pleasure a woman more, but will enjoy slightly less of a sensation
I dont see it as an issue really, doesnt bother me or if im with anyone, and it doesnt hurt, although I've never done it without a condom!
I've just realised I've got this too... I've always been too embaressed to goto anyone about it before [even a doctor] and girls have never complained. I can get a condom on fine.

I never knew this many people also had it... I'll have to look up these stretching exercises.
If you're fine with showing it to a girlfriend, why is seeing a medical professional a problem?

i decided one day that i'd do something about it and after a while i got everything working as normal, i'd try that first

I don't know, I generally don't trust doctors much.
strech. Im cured from it that way. whoever says circumcision is nessecary is an idiot that doesn't know what they're talking about. I did it without steroid cream or anything, just a bit every day, no big deal.

Presumably such a complication arises typically through insufficient 'exertion' during the formative stages of childhood and adolescence, as distinct from any truly inherent dysfunction; consequently, one would think the proposed 'stretching' regimen to be a viable solution.

There are plenty of cases in which all the stretching in the world won't help and can obviously risk causing damage.

To quote my GP some years ago "yep, no amount of stretching is going to fix that."

Go to your doctor - they're not inclined to use circumcision as a first resort and will only recommend it if it is required or you request it.

If the foreskin is extremely tight then I don't know, but with me it was pretty damn tight to start with, like 5mm diameter. And the skin that attaches the foreskin to the head can also strech, take lots of care with this though cos you dont want it to break. Because of what your doctor said to you though I'll change my advice; go see a doctor. And there are alternative surgeries to perform which have been shown to be more successful than circumsicison.
