Im a 19 year old guy, 5ft 7, and quite broad and stocky. Recently Ive joined a gym and went running a lot more, ate healthily etc. However Im wondering how I can improve my body shape, in particular my arse and legs which are still, well, 'fat'.
Im dont really wanna 'build up' my body or muscles or anythin just slim down, cos I can never find clothes to fit me properly cos Im kinda out of proportion.
if you're gonna eat fruit, do it a little before cardio, that was the simple sugars will be burnt in the jogging and you'll still get the vitamins and fibre. generally, no pizza, avoid deep fried foods, no chocolate or anything like that, nothing with too much cheese, salad dressing, mayo, yoghurt, all high in calories, get lots of calories from protein, lean meat, eggs, etc.
can i ask how much you weigh? coz im 5 ft 10.5 inches, quite broad and 'built', weigh 12 stones, and i recently joined a gym, if i were u, id run 1.5 miles a day on the treadmill, that works ur a**e off, as you want to, and ur legs. that burns fat and then just do some toning on ur body, mabye go on a no chocolate diet, like i am on, coz its the small snacks in life that make a huge difference. i aim for a 6 pac by uni
i forgot to mention, wear a very warm winter jacket on the treadmill, gets u sweating and losing the pounds even more, and when u can do 1.5 miles at a 'slow' speed, increase the speed and that will get ur heart rate pumping and improve ur cardiovascularity
Same for me 'cept I'm fatty /plump all over. What you need to do is use light weights, this'll tone you body up. Do the machines you use at the gym have diagrams on showing you which part of the body they work on. If not then ask an employee of the gym, in fact ask them anyway and then they can recommend machines and particular ways to lift free weights to get the effect you want. I use 3kg dumbells to do lat raises which work on you shoulders and pecks. Like I said just ask an employee or better yet a personal trainer. I asked the trainer at my college gym and for £20 he did a fitness test and then drew up a training program specifically for what I want. I only have to see him every 5-7 weeks so at £20 a time is well worth it
I've got the same problem as you! I thought I was the only one. I understand the "out of proportion" part, my ass sticks out so far that people could sit on it... yet strangely everything else looks okay-ish. It looks well odd...
I've given up on it tbh. But I shall take heart from your success and go on a diet. Strike #174.

Why whould you want to sweat more? The only pounds you're losing there are of water, which you want to top up anyway after the run to avoid dehydration. This just doesn't make any sense.
Staying hydrated actually increases your metabolism, so if anything this would backfire.

start at 1.5 miles running, but build each run up by about 1 miles per week if you can, you'll find that even thought running itself doesn;t get much easier you will be able to run for longer though. 1.5 miles is nothing if you really want to lose weight and be in good shape. I'm doing about 20-25 miles a week and have only lost about 4lb in a few weeks with eating much much less. It's great for stress relief and makes you feel great, it also becomes addictive!!
