Ive got a 55kbps modem. (i ent got broadbrand) and when i use the net on my other computer which is XP it is sloow slow, ive tried everything. any computer boffins out there!!!

of course it is going to be slow, if youre using a narrowband modem

I think he doesn't have broadband. "ent" = ain't

thats what i said. its going to be slow because he is using narrowband and not broadband

I thought you meant that he was using a 56kb modem for broadband connection.

ive got the net on Windows 95 now and it is much quicker but what is up with XP????/. i use the same modem

open "phone and modem settings" in control panel, click the modems tab, select the modem, click properties, select the modem tab, and choose the highest "maximum port speed"

it went fine for a yr and all of a sudden it just became sloow, so i bunged it on this comp. wots with XP??
and how do i check the port rate thingy?
