Woo! Looks less likely I'll fail grade 8 piano....

How did your piano exam go? I did mine on Monday. Apart from a couple of dodgy scales and some atrocious singing, I was happy with how it went. Had the nicest examiner yet for it... although that doesn't mean he's a kind marker!

Mine is on Monday, quite worried. I have tonsilitis which is slightly annoying....

But even more annoying for my Grade 8 singing on Thursday....

what is grade 8 singing like? how long does it take to learn for someone who is already very familiar with reading music?
Reply 6
Well I did Grade 5 last July with 5 lessons, and whilst I was in a show and got a distinction and I'd been playing the piano for years. Grade 8 is much harder though, but I find it much easier than piano tbh

Good luck for your exams MikeyB:smile:

Thanx

Yeah good luck...ouch singing exam with tonsilitis...

You prepared for the Aural test? It can be a surprise if you haven't looked at what's involved (which was my mistake) - bit of a jump...

Grade 8 aurals... yuck. :frown: My singing was awful. I think I got the cadence right (interrupted), but not sure about a couple of the individual chords in it (he asked for four). Tricky modulations too. The final section where you discuss a piece the examiner plays to you wasn't so bad... pretty sure if was a Baroque piece.

Stuff the aurals, I hated the grade 8 ones. I just guessed eveything hehe

By the time the aurals came around I knew I had failed anyway so just didn't give a damn... She seemed to give me easy questions though :s-smilie:

Tonsillitis is getting worse :s-smilie: Which wont be good for Thursday....

I'm sure you haven't...Every exam I thought I did atrociously I've turned out with good marks, and vice-versa - there is hope!
Reply 14
Thnx, but I'm reasonably accurate about how well I've done.

But now it's been over a day, I can't remember it so I can't be so certain now :s-smilie:

All the best for the results anyway!

Has anybody got their results back from the exams last month?

Mine are probably lying next to my piano teacher's letterbox... and will be for the next two weeks while she's on holiday. :frown:
