Hey i took my grade 8 in trumpet last month and got merit 239/320 yay! There was a whole cockup with the examiner though as i was supposed to be taking Trinity which they totally knew about. However they only sent a Guildhall examiner as that was what everyone else was taking at my school. So he marked me on the Guildhall scheme but i did the whole Trinity syllabus, cept the aural which was a bit different, which i got 17/32 for which i probably deserved. Ive got the Guildhall certificate and everything know, but i havent passed grade 5 theory which is supposed to be needed for guildhall hope they dont find out lol. Really happy that i got merit bit better than my pass at grade 7!
hang on, i'm confused
i was under the impression that trinity and guildhall exams had joined together. that they're now called trinityguildhall (how original!) and thus it doesn't matter either way.
well, my pay for working for the exams last month came from tinityguildhall

You only need grade 5 theory for your grade 8, cos I remember taking it at the same time - I'd been meaning to take it for years and it only took me 20 minutes.

i did grade 5 theory so long ago now that i hardly remember anything about it.
i'm not sure how well i would do now if i had to without any preparation! probably better than i think!

i actually quite embarrassingly failed my grade 5 theory a couple of years ago by quite alot! That was however before i even new how to tell which keys had which key signitures lol. i was gonna retake it last term but wasnt entered for the exam which id been doing loads of work for and felt i might actually pass. ah well dont need it since ive got GCSE music, which means i can legally and all have my grade 8!
Wow, well done to everybody and their results!! Nice one.

After taking my grade 7 piano 4 days ago on Thursday, I think I've quite possibly flopped it. I've never been great at aurals due to that bad combo of nerves and general lack of ability, but that's got to be a new record of how many questions I can manage to get wrong. I could see the gamma rays of disdain thrusting out of her eyeballs and burning through the realm of my slowly dissapearing self-esteem.

Another idiotic thing which occured was that, even though I'd clearly specified that I was doing group 1 for scales and despite each scale she requested afterwards adhering to that, she asked for a scale in thirds from group 2. And I, the idiot that I am, assumed it was a fault on my part i.e. a complete memory block. So i hesitated, a lot, for quite a while actually, and then played it. Luckily I remembered the key from like grade 4 or something so I could just quickly work out how it would go in thirds.. but that is nicht the point; she was careless for referring to the wrong group but I was a bigger fool for going along with it :|:O

I'd just better believe it and grieve it, baby.

It seems my exam is kinda late compared to everyone elses too, *ponders*
