Contact lenses

I wore my lenses (dailies) at school today, and had a sight test after school where I had to take them out. But I've got an event at school tonight to which I really want / need to wear them - will it be ok do you think to open a new pair and put them in, if it's only for a short while? They're Focus Dailies if that helps. Thanks!

Yeah, I always do that on the days I have eye tests. I think it should be okay.

Yep, I've done that before. I have never checked if this is ok, i just assumed it is, and its worked fine so far.

i do it! hope its ok never thought about it though

I think this is fine, so long as you do the sensible thing and not put them back in your eyes after taking them out! (Assuming you don't have a case or anything for them).

Of course its ok. Bt i wouldt do it very often... those are expensive

i think the person means that they are worried about the amount of time their are wearing them for. you're only supposed to wear a pair for 8 hours. but i don't know if this means you can put another pair in after this 8 hours? i have been naughty and worn them for like 12-14 hours at a time, and when taking them out they have split really easily... obviously one pair wears down after too long of use but i don't know if it's actually bad for your eye to wear lenses for longer than 8 hours.

i'm worried about this for festivals this summer, do you think i can wear a pair to watch bands in for 8 hours, have a break and then put in another pair for going out at night? or would this strain my eyes?
I'm so confused, I wear two lenses a day quite often, one lense during the day then I'll take it out and wear a fresh lense if I'm going out at night, never had a problem

i wear my lenses on average for about 14 hours a day :-\ been doing this for the last 3 years and ive never had any problems. if i'm going out at night, i'll put in a fresh pair.

I have monthly lenses... far more convenient.

^Unless you start to cry on their second day and loose one...

Yeah, i couldnt use monthlies - i lose contacts way too easily - plus i like the convenience of just being able to chuck them away and open a new pair. how monthys are more convenient i don't know.

Yea i wear mine for around 16 hours a day. If theyre feeling a bit dry though i just get them out and put a bit of solution on them.
Id just rinse them in solution if you want to wear them the next day too - they should be fine, but i dont have much experience with dailies.

yeah i wear mine for about 15-16 hours each day, sometime longer. never even feel they are in... mine are focus dailies as well. don't worry! well.. i've never even experience dryness unless forget they are in for about 24 hours :P

Continuous wear ones are excellent too – all you have to do is take them out and put in new ones once a month, then for the rest of the time you can just leave them alone, unless you want to take them out for a while for some reason, if you want to wear glasses?

In fact, I’ve just changed them this weekend – I had my last pair in for 6 weeks because I was so busy and never got round to changing them, and no problems at all.

With the continuous wear ones, is it ok to mix water with them? Because obviously you have to wash your face and all that stuff with them in constantly... with the monthlies and dailies etc I'm under the impression that you shouldn't ever get them near chlorinated water, thats what the lady kept emphasising to me anyway, so much so that I close my eyes when I turn a tap on just incase it spits water in my eye! I just wondered how and why continious lenses can be mixed with water, whereas normal lenses can't...??
