How do you avoid a fight?/be the bigger man

Ok....say if someone wants to fight you or is trying to start a fight, to act strong infornt of thier mates.
But you know, you could easily cause some serious harm to the guy, infact all of his mates at once, how do you walk away without looking like a coward?

any1 got any good 1 liners...thtll diffuse the situation but not make you look like a coward.

from experience there is very little you can do in the way of one liners.... just try to avoid trouble and walk off, 9/10 that will diffuse the situation.....

edit: you say you could cause serious harm to him and his mates, what do you mean by this?

i ment...ii know im easily the better and more experianced fighter....however if it came down to a fight....i would win but most likely cause alotta damage....therefore i wouldnt want to fight at all.

if you're that sure of your self then fight them, if you are under the delusion that you could single handedly take out on a group of guys then you will find out the hard way.....

you seem to be very certain of your opinion that you could 'win easily'...

hmm yes i know how itsounds.....but teh point im trying to make is that they are very amaturish....type that ave never had a fight in thier lives....mainly all mouth.

thts why i would liek to know of any 1 liners or anything to say, thtll diffuse the situation.

If you really do think you are the better fighter then surely to fight these would be a waste of time and below you, therefore just walk away...maybe throw a laugh in too.

If on the other hand you are pretending to be Mr Rock 'Ard and some ppl are possibly after you then no amount of words would change their minds so I hope you can run fast :p:

Look, the best thing to do is just avoid the fight. Dont even say anything. Personally I have better things to do with my time than to get into fights, but I know that sometimes you can't avoid them. And when you can't avoid them as long as they hit you first, you cant end up in trouble.

I got dragged through the courts for a fight that I was trying to avoid.
I had a big gripper trying to pick a fight with me in a pub, he got thrown out, I stayed in the pub, later on he followed me down a lane to a bus stop and started going for me when I was sitting down on a chair, I managed to dodge the punchs but then he went even more crazy at me so I hit him with the closest thing that came to hand, which happened to be a bottle.

I ended up in the cells, and having to defend myself at crown court for GBH.

I was found unanimously not guilty, as it was self defence, but one things for sure, the exprience of having to go back and forth to courts for a year and into police stations isnt a nice thing to have to go through. So my advice to you. Just ignore them and carry on with what ever you're doing.

Mainly all mouth? And what have we heard from you so far?

To answer your original question, just ignore them. Build up a reputation as a weird nerd and the advantages just pile up! Not only can you walk away from fights (who wants fight a nerd?) but you get good results too.

On the subject of one liners, how about 'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH please dont hurt me I didnt mean to antagonise you I wont do it again', whilst curling up into a ball on the ground.

If that doesnt work, find out how sadly mistaken you are about being able to easily beat up a group of anyone at all, never mind people who are 'all mouth'.

just say Don't be an idiot I'm not going to fight you or something and walk away.

I've done that before, people will be able to tell who would "win" if you did fight. Oddly enough people will have more respect for you if you walk away than if you lamp him.

as i've said before unless you have a genuine reason not to fight then show him whose boss.... if you have fighting experience and he's an amateur then shut him up!!! edit: say something cocky to him along the lines of not having time to fight him or that you don't want to hurt him, he'll look like a fool in front of his mates so if he wants to do something, he will.....

I have avoided several fights for several reasons, here are a few:

genuinely believed i was gonna get killed (fair enough i was mouthy to some bloke behind his back and i am quite happy to admit that i denied all knowledge as i was fearing for my wellneing)

thought i'd probably win but feared getting a knife in the back afterwards.... (also never unestimate some people, a couple of my smaller mates might not look much but if they got a grapple on you, they would break your arm...)

vastly outnumbered...

Someone's been watching too many karate movies. In real-life, irrelevant to your combat training, it's highly unlikely you could beat multiple people in a fight at the same time. By you saying this I can only assume you're far too overconfident, avoid a fight at all costs.

So it's impressive that you are comfortable walking away - fyi guys who can defuse situations are sooooo much hotter.

My brother is a really good, experienced boxer and could really hurt somebody if he got into a fight. One time we were in London on a family trip and he and I were walking around one night and some idiot tried to pick a fight, for whatever reason. My brother tried to walk away, but the guy kept getting in his face, and then he kind of threatened me. All my brother had to do was gently shift into his stance thing - crappy explanation, but my guess is you know what I mean - and the idiot knew right away he was outmatched.

yeah i agree lol there are people that could take on 4 bouncers at a club at once but they are very very very few and far between..... in reality unless you have some serious martial arts training, if you take on a group you are gonna get seriously injured.....

"Of course I'd take you on, but red clashes with my uniform; and, besides which, the cleaners would resent me for it."

Punch him in the throat and when he starts coughing and wheezing just say.. "a little less conversation.." in a smug manner and then walk off before giving his friends the 1000 yard stare.

^^^^ if you are confident you can do it, do that but ensure you have been hit first to smooth over any lawsuits.....

If you start trying to look big/avoid being a coward, then you may as well get into the fight. But if you want to avoid the fight.... walk off. Actualy, thats quite sexy. Just look like you really dont give a crap, like its no skin of your nose to fight them, but that you can't be bothered with the hassle.

I dont want to start a fight. And i realise its better letting a boy "cuss" u, to act hard in front fo his mates then walk off......rather than having a fight over practically nothing. But at times some may agree it gets frustrating when the opponent is clearly trying to provoke you.

It takes more guts to walk away yes, but it still looks kind of gay if you just about turn and walk off. I'd just rather lamp the person.
