I was just reading the ucl freshers thread and wondered would imperial be that lively cos i heard from others applying its not and it is really work, work and some more work.:frown: Anyone that goes there shed some light.

I haven't done a days work here at Imperial, but thats probabily why I'm slightly behind. Seriously, there are lots of people who do seem to work a lot at Imperial, there are also a lot of courses that seems to really pile on the course work. As for Freshers week, depends on your course. Physics got a Freshers 'half a week'. Whereas Medicine got a Freshers Fortnight, with TShirts promoting incest thrown in for good measure.
What I can recommend is that that first week make sure you turn up to all the Halls Events, unless you end up in BSH :p: .
On top of that join a soc or club, I'd recommend the Windsurf Club, gawd knows why  . We have apparently the heaviestly paid union in the country for clubs and societies. Turn up to Fresher's Fair and join some clubs, Windsurf will be on the Queens Lawn where the big sails are. I assure you its not really that hard to learn. Plus we've recently been given some money to train up some more instructors, on top of our two already professionally qualified instructors.

Hopefully it's gonna get a lot, lot better now with the new RCSU (that is, if you're doing a Natural Science) and the Medics always have a great time.

For those of you not in the know, the Faculty of Physical Sciences and the Faculty of Life Sciences are merged starting the new academic year, creating the Faculty of Natural Sciences. The Facuty union of which is called the RCSU.

I'm not sure what Physical Sciences did for freshers week but Life Sciences put on a lot of events that were well attended, but we were stopped from putting on bigger events due to our small number.

Now the merger has caused us to increase in size enormously I'm predicting some really good times.

...of course I'll be away on placement :frown:

Just out of curiosity, what does RCSU stand for? SU probably for Student Union, but RC don't resemble anything sounding like Natural Sciences.

Royal College of Science Union.
Freshers week kinda sucked last October, I don't think enough decent events were organised really, and for Physics people at least it was very short-lived.

The merging will be a decent thing I guess but only if they organise events and stuff.

As for girls, there's a lot of hot girls at ICL anyway so I don't think that's a problem. There's just too many guys relative to the number of girls. If they stopped waankers going to these events then all would be fine.
