Particle accelerators are used to increase the energy of charged particles. Circular accelerators can accelerate charged particles to higher energiees than can be achieved in linear accelerators. Discuss the pricniples of physics used in a circulat accelerator. You should refer to principles from more than one unit. You may be awarded a mark for the clarity of your answer. [6 marks]
Any ideas anyone? This is unit 6 edexcel board.

the man advantage is that it is circular, and so in theory, the particles could be going around and around for ever, gaining more and more energy, while in a linear accelerator, there is a limited length, and you can only supply energy over that length.
you can also talk about mv²/r = qvB, and show that some things are independent of the velocity of the particle.
