missed pill

i missed a pill last night after usually taking them at about 9/10pm. i then took it this morning at 7 after realising. does this mean i have to use extra protection/skip a break week? i also had sex at the weekend, am i protected still?

Always use extra protection if you're not sure.

If it's the combined pill your window is technically 12 hours and you just managed this, so you should be OK for the sex you had at the weekend. If you're on POP then you're window was 4 hours and well, hmm...

use extra protection for the next 7 days,if the next 7 days is in your break week then you just start the next packet immediately,meaning no 'period'. but only if you missed you pill for more than 12 hours. (check the window of your pill,normally in the packet,to be sure if it's 12 hours.)

if it's less than 12 hours then you're fine.

If you're more than 7 pills into your packet then you're fine, and if you still have more than 7 to go then you'll continue to be protected into your 7 day break. Missing one in the middle of at least 7 pills each side is exactly like being on your break, so you should still be protected. Of course, better safe than sorry so use a condom for the next week.
