MCP Qualifications

I'm considering doing a MCP qualification possibly the MCSE, was just wondering what your views on these qualification was? I've noticed in many job adverts that a MCP qualification is required.

After some research MCSA = £3750 (inc. CompTIA A+, Network+) Up to 70-291
TSE = £4900 (inc. all the above +CCNA 640-801)

Was just wondering if any of you have considered doing any of the above qualifications and if so, how much did you pay, through which companies? the above amount are doing the courses with the National IT Learning Centre.

Cheers in advance for any views on the above.

I did three MCP qualifications a few years ago (got halfway through the MCSE when I realised it wasn't the direction in which I wanted to go).

Even at that time there was talk about whether an MCSE was really a valuable qualification to have: lots of people were doing it without having any real experience, and it seemed to be devaluing the qualification.

However it seems that it is still valued by employers as a prestigious qualification to have, and certainly if you're into networking then you will enjoy it and it won't harm your career prospects.

I did mine through a local Pitman college.

Good luck :smile:

I found a site that has loads of info on MCP MSCE and stuff, UK site as well. Seem like a really helpful bunch of people on that forum, most of them are self studying, and helping each other.
