Headache

I've had a headache for a week now. It's down the centre of my forehead and down the sides of my nose. It's there first thing in the morning and until I go to sleep. I went to the doctor yesterday and he said I looked dehydrated and wanted to do a blood test. (I've purposely been drinking a lot more lately because I got headaches from dehydration, so I can I be that?) So I went in for it this morning and the nurse said I'd have to wait til Wednesday to see the doctor about the results.

But I don't think I can wait that long. I made an appointment but my head hurts so much. I've tried paracetamol, ibuprofen and sudafed to unblock my sinuses but nothing works. I can't function and I don't think I'll be able to go to school again until I see the doc on Wed (if he gives me anything to treat it, that is)

It's so bad and I'm so frustrated that I'm just crying because i can't do anything else to make the pain go away.

Should I go and hassle the doctor? I don't know what to do. I don't want to seem confrontational because he might think I'm faking it or get defensive and not want to help me. What can I do?

I saw him yesterday and he told me to try and ibuprofen and it hasn't done anything after 2 doses. I don't want to be confrontational because I don't want to annoy them.

But he is trying to help, if I go back he'll think all I'm after is painkillers. What i'm after is something to allow me to function in society again, but he won't think that.

He will if he's thinking straight.

Seriously, don't let your nerves get the better of what might be quite serious. Do it now.

I had a nap and it's a bit better.. I should be alright if I can do this for the next few days.

That is ridiculous, everyone knows doctors don't give you the good stuff unless you hassle them.

Really? Is that why he didn't give me anything? Because I tried to hide the pain and be cooperative to get things done faster?

i've had a headache for 5 days now, its not going away, and yeah i've had to take the week off school. went to the doctors and apparantly there's a mild form a flu going around thats giving people bad headaches, so its probably that. i wasnt even given painkillers, told to stick to nurofen and rest lots. sleep as much as you can, etc etc. normal stuff. hope you get better soon.

I've had a headache for exactly 3 months and 25 days now. I went to the doctor last month and he told me I was stressed and that was the end of that. What a waste of time.

If he tells me my blood tests are normal and there's nothing wrong I think I'll cry.

hmm...some how i think if they told you something was wrong you might also cry and it'd change your life. Have you had your eyes tested by the way?

By wrong, I mean, 'you have bacterial sinusitis; here, have some antibiotics'

I have good vision. I know the headaches are coming from blocked sinuses.

Try suggesting that to them if they don't say anything. I don't mean "I know what I've got, you lot don't know what you're talking about, give me the drugs" - just ask politely if that might be it.

I'm not sure what I think about your treatment so far - to be honest unless you're having migraines (for which there are specific different drugs) then there's not much more the doctor could do for you until the tests are through.

Hey, the docs said if the tests show it, they'll give me the drugs, if not, they won't.

What if there's nothing on the tests? Do I just have to wait and hope that it's acute sinusitus that ONLY lasts 4 weeks?

Never mind.
