A glorified college.

I have never been that is just what people say.

^^ I agree

If you compared it to proper universities then it would probably rank very close to the bottom of the list. However, if you compare it to a lot of colleges, it would probably rank quite highly. So I suppose it depends what you are thinking of doing there and what you want from the course. If you want a good degree however, I would advise you go to a proper university.

Perhaps it is better for more specialist courses - i'm not sure. I formed my opinion on the basis that the biology course used to only require 2 points on the old UCAS system. To be fair though, that was almost 5 years ago so that may have changed as well.

Yea I am a bit confused with the place. For loads of the other courses it is asking for like 120 points on the UCAS system but for Speech Language Therapy it asks for 250 points. I went there for an interview and it looks alright its just I haven't found anyone who goes there to ask them....I am really scared (sorry if this offends anyone who goes there) that I am going to go there and I am going to meet loads of like drop out people going to Marjon just to get the higher education certificate...If you see what I mean.

Doing speech and language therapy you will probably be fine, they are very good for that course as they are for Sport and Teaching they are just not so good for other courses, I am doing a BA and it is really not very good. The accommodation is good the social life is fun and most of the people are really friendly.

I don't know. It's a really hard decision to make..... There's a part of me that is saying go for it...but because loads of people have turned me down I keep thinking that this course simply isnt for me.
Also I have no permanent residence in the UK (except my grans and she is soooo dull ...... snoozing all day you know) So taking a gap year will be bloomin difficult....
Are you going there (to do SALT) ??
I do SLT at Marjon and no it is not a glorified college. From next year it will be called a university and not a college. At the moment those on SLT course get their degree from Exeter uni which is a damn good degree to have.
