Clearing/UCAS Extra for Medicine

Ok i know there hav been threads about this before but i just want something clearing up pls....

iv heard there are a few ppl each year that get on a medicine course through the 'backdoor' without having applied to the uni in october. iv decided to give it a shot, no matter how slim a chance i have cos i have nothing to lose really.

iv been resitting this yr and already hav my aaa with full marks in a couple or exams, but manchester are still considering me after initially rejecting me (in the summer they assured me i 'should' get an offer since i got an offer last year at manc.

i have psychology as back up, but i wanna do everything possible to get on a medicine course (not sure if i wanna take another gap year tho, id have to think about that)

So how would i go about trying to get on a course? which unis are most likely to consider me?

cheers very much for any advice u can give me

Tis very diificult to get back door entry without having already been interviewed by a medical school. They usually have lists of people they're going to make offers to in the rare event that they have places after results day.

No places are ever advertised.

To be in with a chance as an 'uninterivewed soul' you have to be amazing.

My advice is not to leave it to results dat, but to start laying feelers NOW... Come results day you will be one of thousands trying to get in...

By 'laying feelers' what do u mean exactly? making phones calls, writing letter, emails, doing it through ucas....?

So - I already had a doctorate from Oxford. It means nothing!

Start now. Get yourself known. Med schools won't know what they habve available until results day, but if you leave it til then, I guarentee you will not get anything.

Probably because not many have been in a similar situation and hence have nothing positive to contribute.
