Eating tobacco

...anyone ever tried it?

I did for the hell of it and it gave me a pretty odd, dizzying rush that lasted a couple of hours! Really wasn't expecting it! I've heard its not particularly healthy but we're talking a very small amount, probably less than a fifth of the amount in a ciggy. I doubt it would have much effect on smokers however.

Just wondering if anyones tried it/ if its harmful etc.

I had snuff in Sweden (its huge over there...the cool thing to do) and that gave me a similar high, maybe 10 mins long though.

Yah some norweigians i know use snuff, jus nicotine rush basically but fairly intense for a non smoker. Kinda mingin when u see the long term users with wholes in their gums though. Yuk.
Had snuff the other day but it did bugger-all (except make blowing my nose quite disgusting). Totally pointless.
Is snuff in Scandinavia for chewing? Because here it refers to powder you sniff/snort.

It's dirty stuff, my nose just gets clogged. Chewing tobacco is dangerous: it increases the likelihood of developing mouth cancer significantly.

I saw a programme (called Taboo) in which a boy ate a whole bag of coca (cocaine) leaves at work every day. They each took a bag and it was seen as a kind of packed lunch.

As for chewing tobacco.. take a look at the following link if you can stomach it: http://www.quittobacco.com/facts/effects.htm

Maybe I should have been more clear. I'm talking about eating normal rolling tobacco not snuff or smokeless/chewing tobacco.

Chewing tobacco? You're just asking for mouth / tongue cancer.

I think you can refer to any sort of powdered tobacco as snuff technically. The stuff we use is, to give it its Sunday name, dry European snuff. The Scandinavians stuff is called snus (at least in Sweden) and, as mentioned above, comes in little teabag-like pouches that you stick under your top lip for a bit. They're more intense than a normal sized dose snuff that goes up your nose. It's notably banned from being imported and exported around the EU outside of Sweden due to supposed health risks (which are very questionable) - snuff in Britain, on the other hand (random trivial fact) is tax-free as it was once considered a healthy alternative to cigarettes.

And don't say you should snort it! You'll have people with tenners up their nostrils doing themselves an injury!

Anyway, I don't know about chewing tobacco, but you can really overdo it on snuff and snus if you're not a smoker. Two bags of snus under my lip for five or ten minutes and I can barely bloody stand up.

Yeah, cool if you're a bloody moonshine drinking hillbilly driving around in modified agricultural vehicles...
