"I never tried" probably meant, "screw you, ********"

He probably couldn't.
If I tried it would look ****. But my kick-ass sideburns are enough for me.

How can you not let your hair grow?

I fail to see how you *couldnt* do anything through non-actions...

I fall into the exact catagory.. I've never tried. I have no doubt that by NOT shaving i would grow a beard, heck it makes sense... everyday i have to shave to get rid of the hair growing.. therfore if i didnt shave it would grow...

Ok this may be a myth, but I heard that if you start shaving, even if you don't have hair, that will help it grow.

I think it's been scientifically proven that by shaving your bear, it would stimulate the cells/glands to grow more hair at a faster pace, and the hair wouldn't be as smooth. I have no facts at present to back it up though.
^ That is a myth, and will always be a myth.

The longest I've ever let my hair grow is a week and a half, and it was really uncomfortable and looked ***** - my beard's pretty sparse anyway. I think what the OP is really getting at is that some guys seem to effortlessly sprout thick bushes whenever they feel like it, whereas others can't - presumably the former have more testosterone or something.

Either way, not being able to grow a beard doesn't make you any less a man really... I mean, in some areas it's an advantage I suppose (ie. Armed Forces - I hate shaving at 5am in minus temperatures in the middle of a training exercise on Salisbury Plain... pure HELL).

I'm pretty sure all shaving does is make the hairs coarser, so they may feel a bit more plentiful and create the illusion of a more luxuriant growth.

I'm 18 and I have no facial hair - I never shave, although that might be because I am a very late grower.

Not much these days, but think of Ming the merciless. They used to a lot in Imperial China along with thier long platted pony tails...
some men dont grow beards

generally if u have dark thick hair, ur beard will grow at a younger age, eventually however most men dark or fair start to grow facial hair

however, i knew this guy once who was 25-26 and he had absolutely no facial hair whatsoever (ie never shaved) because he had extremely thin girly type thin blonde hair. as far as i know he may never have to shave.

cool ive never noticed that whole dark hair light hair thing...come to think of it the guys i know without beards are all blonde.

my dad cant grow sideburns either...he has a full beard but no sideburns. my uncle can though.
