I wouldn't say its the best university academically for Economics, however, its certainly up there somewhere. If you like Aston as a university and there's nothing wrong with the course why not go there  .

Hey there. I do Economics and Management at Aston Uni. There are only 17 of us ever so ure lucky to have found someone!! I love it anyway, so i'd definately recommend it. You do the first year like most other business school students at Aston, so the first year is fine. The first year covers a general introduction to lots of topics, from accounting to law, and it also gives you the chance to change courses at the end of the year. The only thing different in the first year is that you have to get at least 50% in Micro and Macro economics, Business Decision Analysis, and Quantitative techniques. If you're good at maths though you'll be fine. Aston is a really good business school, so whatever you do there, you'll get a good degree. Hope that helped.

Yeah but are you guaranteed good jobs in the end? ARe you doing a placement year? Is it better than cardiff ?

Well Aston Business school has the best graduate employment statistics of any business school, so i'd think you're pretty safe! Something like 90% get graduate jobs within 6 months. Yeah i'm doing a placement year, its compulsary for Economics and Management here. I haven't been on it yet because i'm only a first year, but i hear so much good rep about it, and i had a talk about it today...they've very enthusiastic about it! It's something employers look for and really like the look of. It's definately worth doing a placement year to gain some competitive advantage in the job market because business and economics degrees are so similar these days.

I don't know how good Cardiff is because i never looked at that uni. I haven't heard of anyone who applied there for economics though. It's probably medioca i'd imagine. The top ones seem to be Aston, LSE, Cambridge, Bristol, and Loughborough.
Cambridge/LSE, UCL/Warwick, Bristol/Nottingham/York, Manchester/Bath, Loughborough/Southampton, Aston.

In that order...

ish

the fact there is only 17 ppl on the course has heavily put me off selecting aston as a potential offer. i mean there asking for ABB entry requirements. allt his means it would be unlikely i would get in. no?
