so i can say, with absolute certainty in my own failings, that i will never ever be attending oxford university based on my interview performance. a liiiiiittle bit heartbroken.

Same here Ems. :frown: At first I wasn't sure how it went and then I actually thought about the things I said and realised how stupid I sounded. Oh.

Did the interviewers give any indication of how you were doing? It is entirely possible that the reason you thought it went terribly is because they reaaally pushed you, which means they think you're good.

The more I think about it the more convinced I am that it's a definite no, which is horrible because I would love to study in such a gorgeous place with such wonderful people.

Same! It's almost cruel giving you a taste of what it could be like to be an Oxford student and then telling you 2 days before Christmas that you'll never experience it :frown: I was in Brasenose so walking out of the college and being greeted by the Radcliffe Camera thing was just :moon: :sigh: Ah well at least I tried :dontknow:

My first interview was sort of mehh okayish but my second was extremely, extremely bad. Well it was always going to be a rubbish Christmas anyway so they might as well add a rejection to the mix. I'm just so disappointed in myself :cry2:

Edit: It was quite fun I'll agree though :p:

Saaaame here! Had a great time apart from interviews

Is it a little bit bad that I'm comforted that everyone else thinks it went as badly as I did? I was convinced this forum would be filled with 'Yep, definitely in, interviews were great, the tutors love me, sucks to be the rest of you'

Perhaps we're all just extremely self-deprecating and can't yet comprehend our genius.

Haha, psychic connection there, replying to each other at the same time

I KNOW, I was opposite you in Hertford. :frown: I loved being in Oxford. I'd been trying so hard up to that point not to care at all about getting in or not, and now I am not-so-secretly emotionally invested in it.

Apparently all letters are being sent out two weeks from now or something? At least we'll have time to recover before Christmas

At Hertford the lady said we'd get responses at the very earliest next saturday (17th?) with them being sent in the post on the 16th I think. Pretty scary stuff!

The other way round with me (bad then average). At least you've already got offers though! Exeter and Nottingham said they'd wait until January (essentially meaning I'll only get an offer if the other applicants before then are absolutely vile) and only acknowledgements from Warwick/UCL :'(

the issues were: i turned up late due to my own timing faults, interpreted the poem to an extent quite wrong, shook a hand when i shouldn't have, referenced something i didn't fully understand myself and they started chasing me about it, and gave very lame answers. i.e, do you select which publishers you buy from? my response: no. MEGA DISAPPOINTED IN SELF PAHAH. how did yours go my love!?! did you say you were late when you bumped into me in town? in terms of interviewer's indications, a couple of times they said good and one of the tutors smiled loads when i referenced a literary critic, but apart from that...it was diabolical.

it would have once been amazing to go there. but that's definitely a parallel universe's decision. and even then i wouldn't get in. the people.were.amazing <3 i would have adored to spend 3 years with some of the people there - we could have worked so well together! including you em, of course. you were sterling i bet sweets.

Awwwhhh no! I am sure that it went a whole lot better than you thought. Well, I'm as convinced I don't have an offer as you are, it went so SO wrong in most places, and I didn't even get any 'good's or indications that they liked me/what I was saying so... guess we're in the same boat lovey. Rejection picnic with gingerbread men? Though I would be surprised if you were rejected, sounds like they were pretty impressed in some parts, and they know that nervousness might screw up an argument a bit, it's all factored in. Plus, you are a bonafide Einstein, so there.

But I feel your pain waiting though, the more I'm sure I'm not in, the more I want it. Sucks to be us.

Hi hope everyone's interviews are going/went well. I've just finished, and was wondering whether it's possible to receive an offer from a college at which you weren't interviewed? Any help is much appreciated!

I've heard that it is. Apparently you can even get an 'open offer' which means you definitely have a place, but you don't find out at which college till after A-Levels!

Oh Emmaaaaa, I just want to give you a massive hug. :frown: Hopefully none of us will be at the rejection picnic, in fact we shall ourselves reject the rejection picnic. Well, so you say, but I've got a feeling that tonight's gonna be a good night that you'll have good news when the offers come out. I really think that your interpretation of it will be different to theirs.

Don't apologise, it's us, not you! We're just envious of how clearly talented you are

Are you still in Oxford? Have you had your interviews yet? It's a real stress reliever to chat with someone, or even just take a walk round Oxford - don't stay cooped up in your room! :frown: I'd wish you luck, but I am dead certain you won't need it.

Really can't tell how my interviews went, but I'm not feeling positive about it. Had an amazing time otherwise though, college was pretty, Oxford is amazing and people were lovely, so I'm happy!

Even so...well, thank you, but I'm not feeling so right now.

I am still in Oxford. I'm meeting with some people from the Facebook group, and then I'm getting a 10 P.M. coach back. Are you? Please do wish me luck; I feel as though I do need all I can get.

I did go around Oxford; I spent this afternoon exploring pretty much most colleges, but that's only served to remind me how gorgeous Oxford is and how much I desperately want to be here, which resulted in me going over everything I did in my interviews, and so...:shoot:

What do you think went wrong? If it's that they challenged you, the general consensus does appear to be that that's to be viewed positively, as they want to stretch your ability. Which college were you applying to? I know, Oxford is utterly incredible...I really don't want to leave...:erm:

Thank you. :frown:  I don't really want to disagree, because generally that just smacks of attempting to fish for compliments, but I really don't feel so after that experience. Do you fancy discussing your interview experience? If not, I understand - I know a lot just want to lock it in a sunless corner of the backs of their minds.

I'm starting to think you've had some kind of clandestine drunken midnight meeting with Laura and have fallen a bit in love with her  I'm imagining the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet, except she's off her face hanging out the window

I prefer my theory that you're Laura! It explains why you "weren't here" on Sunday night. Pffft as if your second name is simply in the second half of the alphabet. No way am I falling for that

By the way, that sounds like a good concept for a modern day London adaptation of Romeo and Juliet :P get it copyrighted!
