swollen gland
So I've had that crappy pathetic cold that many people seem to have had this weekend
One of my (limph?) glands is painful and has swollen up quite a bit - I'd say about 2p piece kind of diameter - and the other is slightly swollen. I know this is fairly common when people are ill but it's the first time I've had it and wondered what it means basically?
Will it go away by itself or should I see a doctor? Am i generally over-reacting?

ive had this like 4 times as i have weak throat etc....lymph glands easily swell...although i doubt it is that serious go to the doctor, once it was mumps...other times its just a swelling...u'll get antibiotics for it no matter what...if it gets worse they'll drain it at the hospital or admit u to hospital and keep u on antibiotics for about 4 days till it goes down....well those are my experiences...

Mine flare up a few times a month, but mine disappear in a couple of days. If you're worried, go and see your GP, just to ease your mind

no u wont get antibiotics just for having swollen glands! It is just a sign of infection, and if an infection is viral antibiotics wont do anything! Everytime I'm ill with a cold etc my glands always swell up and the doctor very rarely gives me antibiotics!
anyway, wasnt meaning to be rude
was jsut saying he hethanks everyone sounds as though perhaps i was over-reacting but you'vee put my mind at rest now
