Lifestyle changes for revision.

I've got my A2 exams coming up and they're really important so I get in to the uni i want to go to.

I need to change my lifstyle a bit so the information I take in during revision sticks a bit better.

So far I've got:

eat fish

drink less (alcohol)

regular but gentle excercise

lots of sleep

no junk food

Any more ideas would be greatly appreciated!

 Thanks

I think you've got it all sorted! I can't think of any more apart from SAY AWAY FROM THE INTERNET!!! It will be painful but its a huge distraction. Go for a short (not too exhasting) run in the mornings, it will wake you up, bright eyed and bushy tailed for a day of revision. I even woke up a 6am for a run on the day of my gcses as it calmed me down alot.

I suggest going out at least once a week. Not full on raving/clubbing, but make sure you go out to the cinema, friends house just for abit of a release. Also make sure that any relax time you have is really relaxing. I dont know about you but being on the internet or watching tv doesnt really wind me down, so i like going for short walks/errands/shopping just to clear my head and think about nothing for a change.

Good luck, i'm sure your exams will go fine.

p.s. I'm stealing your 'lifestyle changes' for myself, thanks!

Yeah, you sound pretty well sorted. Try weight training, too.

no problem

Does anyone know about any 'brain foods' other than fish?

don't eat white bread - wholemeal bread is the best during revision.
no caffeine - it actually doesn't help you stay up in a good way.
lots of lentilles

That is, without a doubt, the single most terrifying thing I have ever read.

I'm guessing then that 'Biology' hasn't been foremost in your list of revision priorities.

Regular but low doses of caffeine while studying. Lot of people do this, they sup at a bottle of coke while studying or they eat chocolate etc.

My personal favourite is a pint of gunpowder green tea beside me that I sup at. That's definitely the cheapest option. £3 for a box that will actually last you years as you only use a pinch in your tea. It also has the added anti-oxidant affect.

Stay hydrated, I mean very hydrated, >5pints of water a day. Take multivits, eat banana's and kiwis to keep up your potassium levels. Yes lots of sleep, dont rise too early as there is a late cycle in your sleep that aids memory retention.

Most important lifestyle change when it comes to this type of thing though is study habit. You need to get your habits at timing etc up. Get in a good few hours a day. Even if you feel like crap go up and sit at that desk staring at the book for a couple hours. If you say to yourself "ah I'm not gonna get anything done anyway, I'll just watch telly" while it might be somewhat true it will make you slip out of the study habit so easily. Try not to get distracted. The more study you do the more inclined you will be to study and the better you will become at it. It's a matter of putting in the hours tbh

God you've got it sorted. I should really be thinking about doing the same for my A2s. Food wise I'm pretty good with most of that normally but getting up early for a run might be a good idea. Not sure if I'd be able to drag myself out of bed for a pre-breakfast run though.. I might start it over Easter when I don't have a day of college ahead of me..

So you're actually going to begin revising from now?
If so, you're a better man than I.

Not exactly but I want to get in the right frame of mind cos at the minute I'm still hungover from last night and have eaten last night's pizza and drank coke all day.

Hmm, I guess don't lose sight of your goal and stick to all the (good) advice above . . . sorry, quite cliche, I know but I thought it's worth adding.
Good luck everyone! :yy:

Don't be silly. Badgers don't whisper. It's the squirrels that you've got to be wary of.
