whats worse-one night stand or affair?

so what is worse-having an affair and falling in love or a one night stand? I personally could forgive a 1 night stand and more so if it was with some one i didnt know but i couldnt forgive a long affair, where there is more lying and deceit. any other views?

Both are as bad as each other IMO. Both are going behind a partner's back and both are breaking the trust. I couldn't forgive anybody who did either to me, that would be it.

Both are obscenely bad but once you're into that level of badness (is that even a word lol) I'd say an affair is just slightly worse, purely because of the systematic cheating & deceit. At least a one night stand is just once and that could be of some tiny consolation to your partner (though I'd still break up with them if they did that) whereas with an affair they've put so much thought and effort into being unfaithful to you it would just make me wretch.

I agree about the one night stand. people often do things they regret, either when drunk or due to a moment of madness! But an affair is planned, it is contrived...manipulative and it goes on long enough for people to know what they are doing is wrong. A one night stand may be a breach of trust, but if afterwards you know it was a mistake then it is easier to be forgiven. But an affair is a complete breakdown of a relationship. People wouldnt feel the need to embark on an affair if they were happy in their relationship-it is selfish and malicious. Therefore, a one night stand is more forgivable.

For a girl, one night stand does seem extremely horrible... For a guy, it's a bliss, a dream...

And yes, I wouldnt stand anyone cheating on me either...

As people have said both are bad and cheating. I couldn't forgive a partner who cheated on me I don't think. I woulnd't be able to trust them and will be thinking of them with other people.
However a one night stand is marginally less bad as it's just one night and more than likely will not see them again. an affair is very sneaky and prolonged and just more hurtful IMO

Hmm...I dont really see how one-night stand is "cheating", really... But yes, on the girl's part, it's bad... and if I had a one-night stand with a girl (I've never had one before, except for friends-with-benefits situations) and if she goes into a fit of depression or something, I would feel pretty guilty...

How is it not cheating if you are in a relationship with one person and choose to be with someone else (regardless of time period)? If the other partner does not know and that is not agreed then that is lying and cheating.

Both are just as bad in some ways especially if its an affair or a one night stand with someone who's already married or attatched.

hang on, are you talking about this in relation to being in a committed relationship?

IMO one nights stands are fine, how is that cheating? Affairs are different, but it takes two to tango.

For me, both are unforgiveable. However, an affair is worse as it's not just the lying and deceit but the fact that your partner has sought a whole other relationship with someone else, involving far more than just the physical side as emotions will inevitably come into play when 2 people spend time together. This implies that there was something really wrong with your relationship in the first place imo.

People seem to think that you only have one night stands while in a relationship, i had loads of one night stands while single, In a relationhsip both are cheating, but an affair is worse than a one night stand cos its last longer and you keep going back to it, meaning the problem you are having in your relationhsip is not being addressed.

I agree with u totaly, but I guess that I would not be able to forgive any of those f I am deeply in love, i mean I would be able to forgive but I wont be able to trust this person ever again in my life...so, I wont stay wiht him

An affair is worse, but both could/should (depending on circumstances) spell the end of a relationship. They can signify different things: affairs can be a sustained spell of mistrust and dissatisfaction in a relationship whereas a one-night-stand might just be a sudden lust under extenuating circumstances (e.g. being drunk/under the influence of something).

a one night stand is an insult...
but I'd say the affairs a million times worse, That'd make you feel so stupid that you didnt even realise....

Anyways, If a girl cheated on me, I'd either end it OR sleep with her friend, just to be evens.... lol

thats not my definition of a one-night stand... you can be involved in a one-night stand even if you're single... and you can still feel used...

I couldn't forgive either, unless there were extenuating circumstances maybe, I'd find it very difficult. As a previous boyfriend found out the hard way.
