Ningbo - ?

Hi,
i'm considering applying to Not Ningbo for BA East Asian Studies. What do you think about that idea?
Do you have any information about Ningbo taht might influence my decision (about some really nasty/nice things etc.)? What is said about Ningbo among the students?
I don't know whether Ningbo is a good idea coz it's new and it might come out that it was a huge mistake etc...
Well, any opinions?

I know
But my school has also several such 'campuses' and I know quite a lot about each of them. I mean I know all that is said among the students and the students talk a lot
I've never heard much about it to be honest... I think I saw a picture of it in Impact once. Sorry not to be any help!
They spent a lot of money they don't have on it. I've heard it's quite swish.

and do you know sth about the teaching?

its new... has an electronic chime instead of a bell. Teaching could be suspect if you ask me...
Though I may be wrong I imagine the teaching/standards etc at Ningbo are nothing like at Nottingham. The place is a new enterprise and largely Chinese run. It's just a fact that a new university set up from nothing is not going to be able to compete with a very old one with a tradition of excellence. They're even desperately advertising for students it seems as opposed to Notts turning the vast majority of applicants away. I know academics from Nottingham have gone out there to help, but I think what effectively is happening, is Nottingham is cashing in on what is going on in China (like schools like Harrow and Rodean others are) and are creating a franchise; selling the name- which is synonymous with the British education system, academic achievement and history. I'm sure when it gets up and running properly it will generate a lot of cash. I have nothing against this, certainly not if the money generated means better facilities for students in Nottingham.

that being said i studied in nottinghams malaysia campus and it was in every way equivolent to its UK counterpart... it was the same university... same modules, same procedures, same standards and exactly the same degree. Both new campuses are even modelled on the UK campus so its not just a case of franchising. I cant really comment on the teaching in china though, obviously they wont have as many distinguished academics as in the uk, but doesnt mean to say that it'll be rubbish! I disagree with the "cashing in statement"... nottinghams campuses abroad actually cost Nottingham UK a lot of money, not only with the huge financial cost of building a new campus, but also fees are considerably lower than in the UK, around 40%... students there are likely to attending nottingham china, or nottingham malaysia as apposed to nottingham uk, and all have the opporunity to study in the UK at no extra cost- so these campuses have not been built just to generate a cash roll for the UK..
to be fair, nothing I said in my post was based on anything like concrete fact. I actually know very little about it. Just passing the time... You're most probably correct.
NingBO SELECTA.
