Well people like Vienna are pretty free with their opinions but they tend to be criticised for it.

Such as your freedom to go about your life not constantly being harassed by people forcing their views upon you, or insulting you and calling you stupid (however much you may deserve it ).

It ain't that hard to ignore someone. I do it all the time. Its even easyer online where you can simply pretend to ignore something even if you have read it. Nothing on the majority of the web should offend you, if it does then you need to relax a bit. Certain illegal sites are the exception.

If you take, for example, the BNP, who's promulgation of 'freedom of speech' sounds good, but when they come out with something like 'ban asylum' or something like that, they are invading the freedom of others. Last term in a tutorial for IR we had to create a utopia, and somebody suggested something like 'negative freedom' - it was something like that. Basically, he said that you should be able to say what you like, but if you infringe on someone's rights or freedoms you should be heavily punished.

I think restrictions on freedom of speech are *generally* a bad idea as, well, you can't restrict a person's thoughts. Of course I don't think this extends to giving people the right to be foul and abusive towards people who are simply going about their daily business.
