There may be other threads like this, but well i'm 18 and ive never had a proper boyfriend. I was "seeing " this guy last year..but then when he went to kiss me, i freaked out coz i thought i'd be rubbish at it! and now im worried ill never get a boyfriend because im too scared to get so close to someone that they'll reject me. Make sense??
how do you get over that first ahhh they're gonna kiss me !! and do they actually like me or am i gonna get hurt by all this in the end???

Just go for it. Try not to let it worry you too much. Both of you are in the same position when it occurs between you for the first time, so support each other by trying not to let it worry you.
I know a bit about what you mean about being scared to get close to people for fear of rejection. Indirectly I think that is probably the problem I've had these last couple of years. I've not really been thinking like this, but looking back I've probably not acted because this thought has been at the back of my mind.
I guess you're just got to go for it again and accept that rejection might be an outcome. If you can prepare for this, I'd imagine it would make you feel a ot better.

I can't help you with this one...I guess I need the same help right now
Otherwise I might have done something about this girl a couple of months back or maybe tried to make progress with someone else these last couple of weeks.

this is honest and truthful from my experience. i was 18, in same position as you EXACTLY. i wanted to kiss guys but my inexperience scared me. so i thought i just want to get the first one out the way. so i met a guy i was friends with, went on a date with him, kissed him, then was too shy to see him that much again. it helped me get oer my fear, but still i felt like i'd wasted a special moment of my life. i think a guy will think its special and cute to be your first kiss so dont do as i did.

hey...here are a few ideas which hopefully might help
Firstly, stop worrying about the future (what will "never happen", or "whether you'll get hurt"). Enjoy each day as it comes, and find something you love doing (ie. a hobby or sport or work) which will at least temporarily stop you obsessing. It will also be something to fall back on if stuff does go wrong, and will make you more independant. Confident people rarely find themselves alone in any way
As for kissing, start out small, like a peck on the lips or something, and you'll lose any fears pretty soon.
Now...i'm not psychic so I can't say if he likes you...learn to follow your own instincts more!
No rejection will ever be worse than you can handle anyway, especially at this stage.i know this stuff all sounds pretty cliched...but only coz its true! Learn to be more comfortable with yourself and everything will fall in to place naturally.

i'm in a similar situation (except the kiss part)... i've been single for a year now....i just cant seem to find any girl.... the good-looking ones in my school are taken...
the rest are........urrgghh.... well, they're not bad looking, but just that our "frequencies" dont match....... or they're just too shy....... or nerdy (well, too interested in academics and no social life)...... or, they dont think i'm the right guy....... or, i dont think they're good for me...... or, one of other 10000 reasons....

I would probably crap my pants with laughter. Although I wouldn't be able to stop laughing the whole date. Honestly I'd be sent to the hospital for laughter therapy or something, and I bet she would be too...
