Harris Manchester College & DClinPsych

Hey - I can see you guys have done your research re: Oxbridge and I was wondering what your general opinions are of Harris Manchester College. Im very tempted to apply there to study for a doctorate in clinical psychology (i have a couple of masters, a pgce, and a BA under my belt - and soon a phd in 2008 - old man im turning out to be). I am torn between staying in Devon/somerset and applying to exeter, bristol and plymouth, and going to oxford. I studied at brookes for my BA and love Oxford to bits - amazing city. But is Harris Manchester a college for old farts who couldnt make it with their A-levels first time round, or does it offer that oxford 'wow' factor? The D.Clin.Psych is only offered by HMC by the way...

Cheers!

well, being Oxford I don't think HMC is for A-Level rejects. It will still be academically challenging, so I would tempt my chance if I were you. Give it a go to be honest, you have nothing to lose

I live 10 minutes outside Geneva, in a small town. Wow! the university here is really nice, and I'm sure you'll like it. been here before? and thanks for the offer it sounds really interesting, but I'll be in the US all of september :frown: I'm applying through UCAS in the first week and then going with my dad to California!

I love casual mentions such as 'a couple of masters' - brilliant!

 i suppose so - never really thought of it like that, just an informal thing we postgrads do to add context to uni discussions.
