I think he used the wrong stud

 :frown:  :frown: I got my nose pierced in August, a present from my dad because i got good grades, however ive not had the need to change it till recently as
a) ive not found a replacement i like
b)we are not allowed noserings to school
However on going to remove it to change it, ive noticed a problem. i am unable to remove it, and i think the guy used the wrong stud, he gave me th sort you put in your ear. A butterfly stud. Now im afriad ill be stuck with it forever, or have to go to the hospital to get it removed. To add to my concerns, a girl in my year recently got her nose pierced and once mentioned hers falling out. Mine wiont even budge. What i would like to know is,
a)Did the guy use the wrong stud
b) What should i do about removing it
c) should i take legal acvtion if he DID put the wrong stud in. :frown:  :frown:

Many Thanks....

Hey, im sure you will be able to get the stud out, its probably just become really stiff at the back where you havent ever taken the back off the stud, or removed it at all. You need to try and prise apart the butterfly back so that the stud can just slide out. Im not sure whether he used the wrong stud or not to be honest, but i dont think legal action would get you anywhere. It would cost YOU loads of money and then you probably wouldnt even win. The only way legal action would be good if is the stud is threatening to your health etc. But its probably stiff, and it might hurt a bit but use more strength to loosen the back!!!

If it has a butterfly on it then surely you can just remove the butterfly and then the stud will come right out?

If the wrong stud was used, then legal action CAN be taken. I can't say if you should or not, it's your call, but if you are getting distressed and suffering angst as a result of this, then you should.

And I'd say go to the hospital as this won't be something new to them. My dad used to work in a hospital A&E and put it this way, he saw loads of guys come in who mistook superglue for another tube

NO! It wont come out, it WONT move. Its stuck.

If you've got any latex gloves then try them, as they can give a better grip on things.

Or if you go to a good piercer, they should do it for free or a small charge, and they will give advice on whether it was suitable or not.

If it is well and truly stuck, and you can't even budge it, go to A&E as you don't want to damage the tissue around the piercing.

As Juno said, good piercers will do that for free. I got hit by a car and lost the ball of my earring, and they gave me a new one for free.

that is so funny, i just burst out laughing. i mean, people joke about these things but i never actually thought it actually happened!! people must get just a little bit TOO heated up and forget to read the tube!!!

Are you saying that there's a butterfly back on the end of the stud?

If there isn't, wet the area with cold water, and try to ease it out. If it doesn't move, go to a reputable piercer and they should remove it free of charge

jeeze they arent supposed to do that!! Butterlfy studs on nose piercings can be massively dangerous cos it could come lose and you might inhale it. Furthermore the idea of having backless hook type studs is that you can pull them out because often they develop bumps on the inside. Im no expert but it seems to me that its possibly a bump has grown over the butterfly. If your brave you could probably rip it out with tweezers but maybe see your peircer.
Hope this helped I have both sides done and have had them for yonks so i kinda know a bit about it x

Okay that is actually extremely illegal (if there are even varying degrees of illegality lol)
But yeah- the same thing happened to my mum and sister because they got it done together in some backstreet in Rochdale lol so obviously it was bound to be dodgy. My sister had to have scar tissue removed from her nose as a result and my mum had the same problem as you- couldn't actually move it at all for years. Eventually, skin grew over the butterfly at the back and she had to have it surgically removed.
The type of bar he should have put in is either one of these

where you remove the stud bit from the front or better still, one of these

that are already bent or you can bend yourself from the inside to secure it.
I'd go back to the place and tell them that and see what they say. Then go to a professional piercer and seek further advice. Professional piercers would never pierce noses with earrings that have butterfly backs.
Hope that helps.

Go back to the place you got it done and get them to sort the problem out. I'd also complain, and tell them that they shouldn't actually be using butterfly studs to pierce noses with... demand for your money back - if they refuse, tell them you'll be taking this issue further, as the only way they should pierce a nose is with a needle.

most peircings are done with studs that are hard to get off so that they dont fall out accidentally. dont worry about it and just go back to the place u got it peirced and get them to remove/chance it for u. as long as it is reputable then u should be fine and they dont mind doing that sort of aftercare.
