The Student Room Group

Hamstead Campus (HamCam)

Hi,

I'm really thinking of applying here now. I've seen the website and been to view - looks amazing.

I wanted to know does anyone live here at the moment? What's it like living there?

More importantly, which room type shall I get because I've missed out on the Studio and 2 bed?

Thanks

Hiya!

I lived there last year and staying again this year too! I really like living here, I'm going to be moving into a 5 bed flat which I think are the best as the kitchen is open plan with a living room attached. There is a big TV in there so you don't need to worry about bringing your own (unless you want one in your room). I lived in Halls last year and am sharing with a few people from last year and then a couple of people from our courses. We are at different uni's so I've got like double the friends!

Halls was great to live in, but thought i would go for a change this year...maybe i'll get a studio next year.....

The pub on site is really good and holds some really good events and has cheap drinks! They got a gym and shop at the end of last year, now everything is on your doorstep, its great  I don't have to pay any bills and that includes internet!!

I can't wait to get back after summer it's definitely my second home and feels like i have a second family there.

Hopefully see you in september in the pub!!

Sounds great - thanks for your help! Everyone that I've met on campus is really friendly. Even the staff were really nice when I went.

I viewed a few weeks ago when pretty much everyone had moved out so wanted to get a feel for the place.
I wasn't expecting it to be so big there, but I guess it's easy to make friends because there's so many people?

Is it true there's no deposit to pay either?

yeah, you pay a small fee to reserve your room and then it is taken off your first months rent... more money for the pub

I also stayed at hamstead campus last year in the halls and all i can say is i had a wonderful experience i totally felt at home as well. the people that you will meet are ever so nice and with a gym and shop and a pub as well i think its ideal.

After this summer will be moving into one of the flats with a few friends from last year as well, just a good experience to stay there.

Hope in seeing you soon in September.

Hey, il be moving into Hamstead campus in september too.

a lot of people at millenium point recommended the campus, so for some reason i thought it was a lot closer than it was. I hope its not an absolute treck to get to.

Millennium Point's in the city centre, right? I didn't think it was that far when I took the bus from and into town. Took me about 15mins. I've got the bus pass offer aswell so gettin to uni should be alot cheaper and going into town.
Did you get the bus pass offer too?
Reply 7
yeah i did, the busspass offer was too good to turn down :P

i dont think its that far out from the city center, someone posted on my thread saying it just takes 15 minutes to get to town.

Is Hamstead far away from City North? It doesn't look like that on a map.

When I went to visit BCU and Hamstead Campus it only took me 5 mins in the car and they told me by bus it will only take about 15mins or so! Are you staying there this year?

Yeah I didn't think it would take long either because I came with a couple of mates by train to new st and then we took the bus to the campus. I'm sure it only took like 20 mins max.

Not sure yet. I just wonder if I could go on foot and save some money, because I know that bus passes cost a lot.
But it seems to be such a beautiful place. I can't decide:smile:.

Have you not heard about their bus pass offer?? Basically, it works out that you only pay a third for your actual bus pass which is great for me because I won't have my car with me this year

That's amazing:smile: Do you get that offer, because you live at Hamstead??or just as a student?
Reply 17
You only get it if you live at Hamstead which is one of the reasons I decided to live there
starting to get excited now  actually can't wait to move
