could i be fat? is this paranoia

hey im about 5"7 and weigh around 8st 2 can vary up or down depending.
i know this doesnt sound massive but i feel like i have a really fat stomach. i wear a size 8 but my stomach tends to bulge out. particularly by the end of the day. ive weighed about 7st 7 before and still felt like my stomach is fat but no where near as bad as this. in the evenings when i relax my belly feels enormous it sticks out way further that my chest and i look totally out of proportion. i dont know if i should do something about it (it is making me miserable) or if im being paranoid.

Im definately not pregnant by the way before anyone asks.

It may just be the way you're sitting- is your posture straight? You could try toning and removing all the fatty, high sugar and high salty foods from your diet.

beer belly would make sense in a way. i do drink alot of booze. but ive had this problem since i can remember (by which i mean since i was very young not since i killed off my memory with vodka)
the only fatty thing i ever it is chocolate. im veggie. i dont eat any fried foods. i always get my 5 a day usually more.
My mum and sister have a similar problem to me but no where near as bad
i go gym about 3/4 times a week and do alot of running and 100 crunches in sets of 25. my stomach is firm and relatively flat when i tense it but not when i relax.
ive had eating disorders in the past. everytime i get over them put on weight i cant get over the way i feel about my belly its just so cruel

Hey don't get all cut up about it. :hugs: Well, make sure that you don't over-indulge with the chocolate but I'd also cut down on the drinking tbh because that's what's making things worse and not helping you out. Remember that if you eat enough food then drink alot of alcohol, the lack of food wont be able to absorb the alcohol thus you will bloat. Vodka and spirits especially wont help because of their high alcoholic concentration/strength.

You actually from ur stats appear very thin (bmi 18)- god i would love to be 8st 2 and wear a size 8, if you are worried about ur stomach though it could just be bloating - espically if it changes throughout the day, so maybe drink more water or try not eating bread/ milk for a few days to see if u might have a mild gluten, wheat ( same thing?? not sure..) or lactoce intolerance. Otherwise i know you cant spot reduce but doing some crunches and situps might help you feel better about your stomach.

But honestly at 8st2 i really would not say you are fat - u are only fat when u are like me and knocking on 11st at 5' 7'' x x

you are just inside the correct BMI for your height so your not fat
try excercising to tone up
try avoiding salt as it incourages water retention and can make your stomach look bigger
and you may have a slight allery to wheat and gluten - cut these out for a few weeks if it helps - ask your doctor for an allergy test
you aren't at all fat. i'm 5'7" and weigh about 10 stone and i'm not at all fat, so you can't be. do situps if you think your belly is fat.

I'm in the same position as you with the belly, chocolate and veggie lol. Maybe its just your shape? I think I'm apple shaped which would mean I'd put more weight on round the middle sorta thing? But anyway you definately do not sound at all fat or overweight, maybe it's jsut bloating or something?

I bet you don't even have a belly. I reckon that if you're a size 8 and a mere 8st2 then it's more likely to all be in your head. Especially since you're 5'7"! You should be looking to be putting ON weight!

Could well be alcohol or water retention, general bloating, wheat allergy maybe?

Sounds to me like you are just paranoid though. I'm 5 inches shorter than you and over a stone heavier. If you looked like me you'd probably just kill yourself so think yourself lucky.
Most girls would kill to be 8 stone 2, and as you're tall as well...!! i really don't see at all what you're worried about!! It's probably a psychological thing, i bet that if you asked people they'd say that they hadn't noticed anything.
