I didn't think I still thought about my first love, but I saw him in the pub tonight with his new gf, nd even tho I've moved on nd have a great new bf (nd have had relationships between) it still hurt to see him with someone else :frown: So I reckon those feelings may take a longer time thatn I thought to go away...but I reckon will be able to eventually *fingers crossed*
I still get the little heart flutter if I see him... even though he turned out to be a snide, manipulative git.
I hope so, because my boyfriend felt I was his first love and I don't think he was mine, so I just want him to move on and be happy xxx

i've fancied loads of people but i've never been "in love" before so i can't answer the primary question.

i got over my first love after about a week...and it was an actual proper long term relationship as well. it's definately possible, and now i know that not being with him was the best thing that could have ever happened to me.

dunno if i could ever get over my current bf when we split up tho....

First boyfriend/girlfriend or person you lost your virginity to can also apply.

I cant really answer that. Although I have had two previous relationships, the girl I am with now I would class as my perfect girlfriend and I love her to bits...the other two dont really compare...If I did lose her for whatever reason I doubt I would get over it in a hurry.

i don't want to jinx it
First love, eh?

I still get the flutter, the weak stomach - my knees go wobbly and I can't help but smile.

I'm with someone else now but I will ALWAYS think 'what if' about my first love, I mean, the first cut is the deepest and so it's the wound that takes longest to heal.

Get over your first love? Yeah, definately you can.

Get over your first wife? Not yet, not even after been divorced for 3 years.:frown:
you CAN get over them...but never ever fully 100%, especially if it ended on bad terms. *sigh* I'm still 99.99% over my ex.
Yes, and by 100% in my case. Love my current bf more than ever. Tbh i never think of my ex tho it probably helped that we haven't seen each other since we slit

That is a very poor turn of phrase  particularly for someone as emo as you. :frown:

i think you can get over them i.e. not think about them all the time and not want to be back together. however, i reckon it is normal to compare future loves of your life to the first, and that they will hold a special place in your heart. that's what i think anyway...

Isn't that supposed to be your mother?

Or am I the only one that compares women to my mother
hahahah well my first love will always have a special place in my heart and it's normal to compare new loves to the first
I think you don't completely, I mean they were the first person you experienced love with etc. I know in my case I won't get over him 100% He treated me better than anyone had before and made me so incredibly happy. In time those feelings may slightly go but I'll always have something for him.
