Hi matt, our students tend to think the university experience is good, plus lots of it is FREE. Check out http://bucks.ac.uk/student_experience/big_deal for more information.

Buckinghamshire Uni is the biggest ****hole in the world. DON'T GO THERE!!!!
Compared to other university's, this is the lowest possible choice. They will lie in interviews and open days to get you in. BUT the teaching is atrocious. I have been there almost 3 years, and have learned nothing, teachers are never TEACHING, everything is constantly being CUT, there is no funding for anything. This place is so bad. I would really warn anyone from going here, its been such a waste of my life and money. I am doing a creative course, and most people I talk to are the same. This is a miserable place, with no spirit, no connections to creative industries...I could go on.

Night life is pretty poor unless you want to travel out to Beconsfield or London. The SU gets VERY boring after awhile. Accommodation wise DO NOT GO TO BROOK STREET. You'll end up regretting it.

I have lived in High Wycombe all my life which is where the university is based.

I have no real knowledge of the University personally but the general consensus of everyone local is that you should do everything you can do avoid it. Of course how fact based that is I do not know.

What I can tell you for sure is that the night life is absolutely atrocious and if that is important to you then you should steer well clear.

This post. Everything you have said is very much true about this "University".

I'm only in my first year. but so far my experience has been quite enjoyable the lecturers I have are very well experienced I've learned a great deal. There is loads of funding for events and if you should know as a student yourself here that the university runs the sports for fun program as well as loads of other fun stuff. Last week I went Go-karting, Paid £20 and got it back in the end.

I'm all for voicing opinions but I feel that you should be more specific about the issues you're having. from where I see it. You've expected everything to be handed to you on a silver platter. As for links to industry I agree a little bit. Obviously there is the seinheisser for the music/events students.

Had a shooting on my road not so long ago.
There was a knife attack on campus.
Nightlife well. There are NO clubs. Only the student Union and Yates, it's like Revolutions only with underaged people and people getting into fights.

I'm in my second year but in the process of transferring. One of my friends is doing a different course and when she went to apply to a job they didn't class Bucks New Uni as an official University.

I'd be surprised if this can actually be called a uni... sub sub-par at best. not for the average intellect levels. spend ur parent's hard-earned money or your student loan on alcohol and substances instead, u would find more satisfaction in that.

no offense to the students but lets face facts...

I'm actually going to study the same course in September too. I started there last year on a different course (Business management) and the only reason I left is because I wasn't enjoying the course. The tutors are very helpful, the people were nice and the night life - though limited - was alright. I didn't go out as much as others because I didn't stay in accommodation as I live fairly nearby but when I did it was a decent night out. If you have any other questions just ask.

Reading all these comments is just confusing me.
There's so many mixed messages about Bucks.

Can I ask the name of your road as I have just put a deposit on a room in Victoria road near Desbrough road. Does any one know anything about this area? I am soon to start a B A in Musical Theatre.

Just because one person had a bad experience with maybe one/two lecturers or a particular course doesn't mean that all other members of staff and courses are bad. I know it's good to see other peoples views to get an idea but you shouldn't base your own opinions on the odd bad review, Bucks considering it hasn't been a university for very long actually offers a hell of a lot if you actually make the effort to find it! The nightlife around the town is terrible but the SU does provide many good nights out and it's cheap!

High Wycombe, the town in which we are based, has actually been awarded a Purple Flag for the safety of our campus and town (click here to read more). Bucks New University has been named as having among the lowest crime rates around any university in the country in rankings based on police data. To win Purple Flag status towns and cities must be welcoming to everyone, offer safe ways for visitors to travel home, provide a good mix of venues and attractions and appeal to visitors not just at night but during the day too. Purple Flag towns can expect to benefit from lower crime and anti-social behaviour, and more visitors.

If you wanted to know more or want to speak to a member of the team at Bucks to find out more about the University, please just give us a call on 0800 0565 660 or give us an email on [email protected].

Hi.
I am genuinely concerned about this. High Wycombe, scarily enough, is not as safe as you proclaim it to be. A lot of my friends who live in High Wycombe say that people who walk around there are a danger to themselves as there are those who go around stabbing people.

I also saw your accommodation, Brook Street isn't good at all and just looks like a staff room. The outside hardly looks like somewhere you'd go into and think "hey, yeah this is home!". Not to mention the interior not only looks like the aforementioned generic school staff room but also the doctor's office or a clinic.

And your more expensive accommodation is ... decent, I'll say that. But that's financially undo-able (unless you work your a** off) for students who're getting a tuition and maintenance loan for their studies.

One thing I will credit you for though, is your courses. And I don't know if it's actually bad (the ones I like in specific) -- but, Media & Journalism? Now that's something I'm interested in! And to see it intertwined as one subject is absolutely phenomenal.

Overall as an applicant and from a visitation perspective, I'd give you guys a 5.5 (maybe a 6 on a good day?) out of 10.
