So yeh today I had a crash. I was stopped waiting to turn right down a road, when a big yellow van crashed into the back at me(dunno the speed). The back of my car is a total write off whilst he has just a little bump. My head must of been centimetres away from the steering whell - another 5 mph and I would of hit it definately. So yeh - anyone else come close to dying today?

yikes sounds bad, is your neck ok?

i had a bump today but no marks or anything, was waiting at some red lights and the dafty in front of me (a woman *surprise surprise* :P) was obviously too tired to do anything and started rolling back towards me. i rolled back as far as i could hooting my horn but had to stop or i would've hit car behind me, and she hit me the whore!

anyway, she's in my boot now in little pieces.

(last bit may be a lie)

I was so angry - I just got out of the car called him every name under the sun swearing and everything - told him to go down some road. He couldnt even speak english and had to put me on the phone to his sister so I could get all the details. I just dont understand how you can run into the back of someone at such a hefty speed - what the hell was he playing at.

Probably wasn't paying attention. My dad went into the back of someone like that before. He just wasn't concentrating on the road.

That is exactly what happened to me in November. The tw*t who went into me didnt want to pay via his insurance as it was too expensive, he eventually got my car repaired but it took 2 months.

Your neck is gonna feel like a ***** in the morning, I suggest one of those wheat filled pads you warm up in the microwave, that did wonders for my neck.

Hope you get thing sorted quickly, I know how frustrating it is when these things take time.

If you car was still operateable you should have waited for him to get out and then reversed onto him and then driven off.

Surely you have insurance which will provide you with a courtesy car and soon enough another car of your own?

Im never EVER going to speed again, no matter how many times people tell you things you never listen and dont follow the speed limit - but after today Im actually convinced that had he been going a tiny bit faster I would of died/had a serious injury. That extra 5mph just isnt worth it.

From the sound of it the impact was the same (about 40 mph the nurse at NHS direct reckoned). My neck was ok on the day it happened, then the next day I had trouble using it. The nurse said take painkillers and try use my neck as much as I can.

It was a 40mph road and I heard his breaks screach before he hit me so I dont think he was going 40 - unless he was speeding.

Who do I speak to about compensation?
Claims Direct, or any such organisation which operates on a no win no fee basis.

One of those many firms that advertise on TV maybe?
Yes, what firms might they be? And Ive only ever heard them talk about personal injury(slipping at work) not car crashes.

Claims Direct specialise in all types of legal predicaments.

Or alternative pick up The Yellow Pages, don't stand on it, and look up firms or soliciters which specialise in personal injury and compensation and then ring aroung and find the best deal. Most organisations are willing to represent people such as yourself, as long as you have a strong case.

These 'no win no fee' companies will suck you dry, they will probably have 3/4 of your compensation. Carefully read everything, there are all sorts of hidden costs!!
