Hi, my firm choice still hasn't made a decision yet so track still says 'conditional'. However my insurance choice has given me an unconditional offer and I have decided that I would prefer to go to my insurance choice.

If I withdraw from my firm before they make their decision, does my insurance place stay the same, will it automatically become my firm, or will it go into clearing?

    Thanks

If you accept an Unconditional you go there. Simple as. You only go into clearing if you have no offers at all. If you reject your firm thats your choice, if your firm accepts you, you must go to the Firm, that's their choice.

You don't lose the Insurance, they have accepted you already.

Still contact the Firm, and say you don't want to go there anymore, then you will get rejected and accept your Insurance's unconditional offer.

    Thanks for your replies!

So I should contact my firm, say I no longer wish to go there, and then track on UCAS should automatically update my insurance to become my firm?

Just make sure that you definitely have a place. I would say to the Insurance, you are going to accept them, and are going to reject your firm. Then contact the firm and say you would no longer wish to study there. Track will change CF - Rejection UI - Reply

It will say reply to offers, you accept Insurance, or it should just automatically accept insurance, haven't been through the process.

Oh and well done, I'm just going to wait for my firm, want to go there if they accept me.

Your firm and insurance never change. Once you select a firm its always your firm.

    Thanks for the advice!

I phoned my firm and told them to 'make me unsuccessful' and that I was going to accept my insurance offer instead.
She said it could take up to 5 days to process, so what should I do in the meantime? Track hasn't updated yet and I need to sort out accommodation etc

Contact your insurance and let them know that you have asked to be released by your firm (who hadn't made a decision on you) and so will be attending their university. This is a useful heads up for them that you're coming in terms of their numbers and they may be able to give you information on accommodation etc.

This is not strictly true. It is true while the firm choice is conditional or unsuccessful but as soon as a firm choice makes an offer unconditional then the insurance choice is lost.
