yeah, paracetamol overdose isn't good news..

it saturates your metabolic pathways and in short, your liver doesn't like it. However paracetamol takes a little less than 4 hours to metabolise (depending of course on how much you've had) so i think maybe its all out of your blood stream by now.

In all honesty your doc will probably tell you not to do it again

Paracetomal overdose is like dangerous cause its really sudden what tips you over.

But seriously like the tip off point is like over 16 tabletw or soemthing.

"You'll be fine.
Supersonic
You'll be fine. Not serious at all. Take some more.

Why dont you take 300 sachets supersonic you loser.

OP: twice the dose should be okay, just dont take anymore for a while. The main thing in them is paracetamol, so its like taking 4 paracetamol tablets I believe. If you start to feel effects from it then go see a doctor.
Yeah, drink loads of water to get the metabolites out of your bod!!!

(you excrete them via urine)

Drink lots of water and definitely don't take any more. Go and see your doctor if you start experiencing any ill effects, but you should be fine  .

lemsips are 1000mg paracetamol, so each one is ike 2 tablets.
Echoing what other people have said, for a young healthy (ish) person, the amount you've taken shouldn't be a majoy worry.

In all honesty, stuff like hot ribena is just as good though, and cheaper.

Our lecturer from boots this week was saying how none of the coughs/colds things really do a great deal but thats not what people want to hear, so buy them anyway. Keep your self well hydrated and you'll be right as rain in no time.

Go and see your GP, I'm not sure if the Lemsip is the cause, but its much better to be safe than sorry  .
Paracetamol overdose is serious. Even if you feel ok, you should speak to your doctor because the internal damage it can potentially cause is nasty.

Or phone NHS direct; spare your poor doctor, who has enough on his plate.

The overdose you took was very, very small; any damage done to your liver (of which, I imagine, there was probably none) will quickly be undone by the liver, which has a remarkable capacity for regeneration.
Just drink lots of water.
I've taken an overdose of paracetamol before, infact on my mother telling me to. I was fine but I only took 2 tablets every other hour rather than 2 tablets every 4 hours.
thanks everybody.

my fever and cough is so bad ill still see my doctor. and perhaps mention this embarrasing lemsip overdose...

Unless your cold has been going on for two weeks without any reduction in severity there is no reason to see your doctor. There is no cure for the cold, and all the doctor can do is tell you to go home, get lots of bedrest, drink lots of fluids, and take an antipyretic and analgesic like paracetamol or aspirin. A severe cold is unpleasant, it does not however require intervention from a doctor. You'd be better off going to Boots and asking the pharmacist for something for your cough and fever; again, they'll probably just give you something containing paracetamol and maybe a cough linctus.
Beechams all in one is the best thing you can buy over the counter when you are poorly.

It's moderately strong, but you feel as though you're on cloud 9 after you have taken it. It totally stopped my coughing, made my sore throat vanish and I was sleeping like a baby.

If my friends are ever ill i always recommend it, and they seem to agree

Make sure you buy the syrup though, the tablets aren't so good.. And it contains paracetamol, so take it properley!!!!!

agree with above - you probably may need to be seen by a doctor, sooner rather than later and have blood tests ( liver functions, clotting screen/ INR etc) the effectiveness of antidotes to paracetamol overdose is somewhat limited and very much unknown must beyond 16 -24 hours post ingestion

try and recalled to a reasonable levle of accuracy how much and when ., also the exacet type of lemsip product you took ( v useful for looking it up on toxbase by NHS D or hospital staff)

'accidental' Od of paracetamol containing products is reasonably common and might engender a tell off for not readign labels, hopefully that's the wort of it, however accidential OD s of paracetamol can make you quite ill and large accidential ODs can have a serious effect o nyour health..

NO

you need to seek the advice of a Health professional regarding your lemsip overdose sooner rather than later, if there is a problem the sooner it is dealt with the better, once you start feeling unwell following excess paracetamol ingestion, the damage has been done, and yellow is so not this years colour ...
yep.... i will go on Monday

now i can sort of see how serious this can be... thanks everybody

i have a serious cold and last night, everytime i woke up had a sachet of lemsip and realised this morning i had twice the recommended dosage.

planning to see a doc.

how serious could this get ? i heard its ingredient "paracetamol" can leave my liver seriously damaged.
