Diarrhea...sorry

I got up this morning and felt fine, but about 12 ish started to feel really sick. Went to the toilet and had really bad diarrhea (pretty much completely liquid). I've probably been to the toilet about 6 or 7 times and now, when I go, it's still liquid but more of a yellow-y colour and has things floating in it...what looks like...bits of toilet paper or something I guess. Has anyone had this and should I be very worried?... I looked on the NHS direct website but i couldn't find anything that seemed to fit. I will wait to see if it clears up. I can't see my GP as I'm not at home but if it persists then I will go see a doc. Thanks peeps.

May just be a bug. Just keep drinking water and eating as normal and hopefully it'll clear. Otherwise take some immodium that'll clear it no prob

Have you been to Africa lately? Sounds like cholera!

(It's probably not, btw)

I had that last week, I felt fine in the morning and by afternoon I felt awful, although I was throwing up as well. It lasted 5 days and I had a fever too, and I was aching all over. Just make sure you drink plenty of liquids and wash your hands every time after going to the toilet!!

Keep yourself well hydrated - this is very important as it's the dehydration that accompanies the squits that's the main problem, and if it persists for longer than 48 hours consider going to see your GP/call NHS direct.

Cheers guys. lol and no, I haven't been to Africa lately!!
Yeah hopefully it's just something I ate.
I have been feeling sick as well, but not the the point of actually vomitting.

To the OP, if it doesn't clear in a few days I would see a doctor. It's probably something bad you've just eaten.

It can either be something "off" you ate or just an infection. These "bugs" are very contagious which is why whole families or boarding schools end up having diarrhoea. (infection is anal-oral; meaning if someone hasn't washed their hands properly after having been to the loo, touches something, let's say a doorknob and you touch it shortly afterwards and then finger your nose/mouth you could catch it)
Usually these things don't persist longer than 48hrs and as suggested above you should keep well hydrated. Drinking weak black tea with some sugar and a pinch of salt helps (NO milk), eating prezels or stale bread is good. Avoid fat for 2-3 days and build up your food slowly over 1-2 days.
If the problems persists (>48hrs) or blood comes it could be an infection with salmonella enteritis which has to be treated, or an inflammation of the bowel "colitis", which also needs treatment. Then you should go to the doctor's.

Dont have immodium till you're empty.

Disgusting as that sounds you dont want to trap the bugs inside you
