Has the definition of LOVE changed ?

The oldest love story of Pyramus and Thisbe in the world was a tragedy. A tale of juvenile lovers, their coming together was dismayed by their own parents!!!, whose lives end in double suicide, caused due to a misunderstanding.
Mentioned in Midsummer Night's Dream and the same used to enrich Romeo and Juliet, borrowed from Ovid by Shakespeare, who in turn got it from the Greeks, who borrowed it from the Middle East.

I don't know if you're talking about in more recent Literature or Theatre- I couldn't really comment, don't study English or anything but maybe love is shown more physically in modern stuff because people are less shocked by it. Also I think people have less of a problem with who you're expected to marry/fall in love with in society so it's just not as dramatic!
In general though, surely love is more of an emotion or a chemical thing, that doesn't really change over time? Maybe it's different for different people but you can't tell how other people feel can you?
Love must have a blurry definition because it's not a logical thing, you don't pick up a dictionary to see whether you're in love.

Seems as most teenagers declare their undying love, usually by text within 2 weeks of being together, I'd say it has...

dunno romeo and juliet wernt together for very long and romeo was known to have a new "love" for every day of the week. is the same kind of juvenile infatuation isnt it? (except romeo and juliet were blatently emos)

Love can never be easily defined because its so diverse. Love means different things to different people, try reading up on the psychology of relationships (very interesting approach). To me love is a made up word, a word that once meant something in different times but has now been reduced to nothing. You don't need to say 'i love you' to let someone know your feelings.

I think love is pretty much the same as it has always been (cropping up in different ways everywhere ). It's just that people get to have lots of free time to have relationships as teenagers, that aren't really serious and neither person intends it to last, but while they're together they are quite happy to call it love.

I think people are beginning to get the view that love does not need to last forever, and that they will probably fall in love more than once in their lives. Science has robed 'love' of a lot of it's meaning though now.

(btw. this is like an objective overview, rather than a personal thing, because I tend to just 'enjoy the moment' rather than thinking about the future of a relationship)

I guess that the word love has different meanings for different people. Love in literature is separate from love in reality. there will never be just one definition. I guess the dictionary would state something like, "affection between two persons," which perhaps is the very simplest definition. But then there are different types of love-romantic and platonic. I think the value of love is less nowadays; in the past, people fell in love, married and had just that one sexual partner. Nowadays love and sex are different, with the obvious exceptions of course. Love is no longer necssary for physical affection, whereas once it was frowned upon to not be in love yet have sex

using pyramus and thisbe as the very definition/prime example of love is silly anyway. who says love has to be tragic or involve young people?

I think its changed my love hearts say 'Just say no' and 'Happy Birthday' on them thats not romantic!

love has no definition it just is

Different types of love, people. Platonic love for friends and family - very different from sexual love for a partner.

Shakespeare often wrote about love at first sight though, something I don't believe in in the real world.

To me, (couple) love is a deep friendship with meaningful sex attached.
